My manager was talking about these the other day, reminiscing about carrying the whole thing around with him in the 90s.

People often took the piss, but he always did it because he had a job doing data entry for the police at the time and could spend an entire day entering stolen car stereos.

He once did a search on his own one, just out of curiosity, and sure enough it was on the system as stolen...

Whip the lid off an it should be obvious which is the +12v in - lob a power feed onto it & see if it sparks into life.

Then the speaker outs should be reasonably straightforward to trace.

    Or spend £4.99 on this

At the Vickers Apprentice school, Scotswood Rd, we took blunt files and linished a flat across the end face + brazed a carbide lathe tip on >> then polished on the tooling stone grinder.
Fabulous scrapers and never went blunt (vs carbon steel)

Thanks for the update, so glad that KAZ decided you were due a break and sprang into life.
I've owned cars like TAZ, no matter what you done for them it was returned by more hassle and total unreliability.
The one I was thinking about was a red Allegro three door estate, bought because someone had demolished my 1500 Special Allegro by crashing into it.

I thought I'd use the original car for spares, but like your two similar cars everything mechanical was rather different, I mean everything.
    Nothing would swap.
I got out of Allegro ownership and ran a few Mini's (stop laughing at the back!)
I could write a book on those too.

By the way, your writing style is excellent.

Don't remember that option in the UK. Possible tho, like Cortina 1600 Ghias which were listed for a year or two but I've never seen one.

Looked at it closely the last few Errol auctions, and kept going back to it. For once, common sense prevailed, and when it sold at the last auction I was mighty relieved, and thought that would be the last I saw of it, so no more temptation. Then it turns out YOU have bought it. Bastard.

Anything with primitive bent bits of metal instead of a proper, modern suspension system... There's going to be a lot of differences of opinion in this thread! I've just learned to accept the rough ride on all other cars because I can't be arsed to learn to weld.
Anyway. I can't think of any personal experiences, but I'm reminded of a friend who got a chance to drive a Jag XK8 when they were new and he was about 18. He said it was boring to drive compared to his Metro.

The replacement busses are Scania K360UA, Bodied by Volgren. Nowra Coaches has bought 5 of them to replace their 5 Volvo B58s (2 decommisioned in 2012, the 2 mentioned above, and one still in service) and a Volvo B10M (Scrapped 2011). All the B58s are still in the depot, allong with a B58H tht was decommisioned in 2008!

That's another annoyance - our local purveyor of fuel has the air machine right at the front door, beside a prime parking space for lazy arses.
Doesnt help its one of those petrol stations with a sort of mini tesco attached to it, and there's always a queue of giffers buying a week's shopping and only one person manning the tills.

God forbid one just wants to drop £20 of unleaded into one's motor vehicle, throw a crisp twenty at the till jockey and make swift progress out of there.....

The old fridges / cookers and other white goods dumped in laybys and anywhere else is due to the stupid local
    tip rules.
You can take stuff in in the car and it's accepted.
You can take stuff in in the car with a single axel trailer and it's accepted.
But no double axel trailers a defiantly not vans.

The local council want £20 per item to take them away, so stuff just gets tipped everywhere.

Welding works well.......but clean up the wheelbolt first. I used a dremel to cut into that pesky collar too then built up some weld on the head........then got the biggest nut I could find and welded it on. Quite a lot.

It came off really easy after that.........probably due to all the heat but I also think it knew I was not fucking about and got scared.
