  1. Looks like a Hillman Hunter, was the pic taken In Weymouth by any chance?
  2. Superb images from when London was interesting, it’s a dull place now though....
  3. Me too, I drove a flatbed one of these fully loaded (overloaded) from Bristol to Plymouth 27 years ago, it was thankfully a six-banger and sounded like a proper lorry but it overheated on Haldon hill and I had to pull into a lay-by at the top and let it cool down before continuing the journey, Ryder truck rental were none the wiser.....
  4. Love the old sodium lamp on the garage bathing that superb fleet in that lovely orange glow.
  5. I think I’d struggle to get one arse cheek astride that apparatus...
  6. Fantastic images of that London before gentrification took place...
  7. Nice one Eddy, we are hoping to be going back in September and the way the vaccine rollout and the numbers are going we might be lucky, I love Cyprus as much as Devon!
  8. I seem to have seen and photographed most of the Cyprus tat pictured here, the Morris traveller that was something of a landmark in Coral Bay had met an undignified end when I last saw it in 2019, the Cresta and Zephyr were both well loved though and indeed the Ford was a daily driver....
  9. Thanks for the kind words, it’s actually a very good car albeit rather slow! It’s never been welded and the structure and bodywork is in remarkable condition. It’s another old Renault still on the road....
  10. My sister in laws old Renault Clio lunched it’s cambelt just before Christmas, initially I tried to find a cheap and cheerful replacement car but after much searching of egay, bumtree and autotrader I concluded there was very little to be cheerful about with lots of hanging wrecks with issues and the prospect of yet more cambelt roulette and then of course the lockdown came which makes looking at cars difficult with the possibility of a fine more than the value of the car you are going to view. This led to no choice but get the Renault repaired, the trusty and excellent Garage that I use sourced a decent engine from a breakers and fitted it with a full cambelt kit including water pump, new clutch and general service for an all in price of £500 which is very reasonable but obviously more than the car is actually worth, that said last years MOT had no advisories and it’s a case of needs must at this time, I’m pleased the old heap lives again though.....
  11. It might have taken a bit of effort screwing that old pallet to the roof bars!
  12. Interesting thread, I’ve always changed oil and filter at either 6 or 12 months max (12 in the case of my old Volvo S60 as the oil is so bloody expensive!) for my daily cars. Grandad always said that the oil was the most important moving part of the engine and it’s advice which I’ve always adhered to.
  13. It’s an Iveco so it’s shite. I was a salesman at an Iveco dealer when the ‘state of the art’ Stralis was introduced, it wasn’t and this will be a flop too.
  14. No, the Renault with this cab was probably the most numerous in the U.K.
  15. I love my gifts, many thanks to whoever sent them! Please excuse the poor quality of the pic as we are all slightly pissed now!
  16. I received mine today, it’s now beneath the Christmas tree...
  17. Good luck! Watching with interest. I’m tentatively looking for one of these myself...
  18. Such a beautiful looking car, it’s a shame BMW produce hideous looking cars these days.
  19. That looks nice, and with an excellent choice of engine. I had a Merc ML with this engine some years ago and it was brilliant....
  20. It’s horrible and wrong on so many levels, the Austin 3 litre is a graceful car in its standard form but this abomination is horrendous.
  21. If only cars from this era had decent rust proofing as that’s what finished them off in about ten years, the vast majority still being good mechanically. We now see the exact opposite with fairly recent cars with no corrosion ending up in scrap yards due to buggered complex mechanical issues..
  22. Have you ever been constantly reminded by a life long petrol head friend that the worst cars he’s ever driven have been owned by yourself, and a Renault 4 being singled out in particular.
