I had the pleasure of a weeks holiday on the Grand Union Canal back in September 1993, I enjoyed the experience so much but haven’t been near a Canal since which is something I must remedy.

My old boss bought a couple of brand new Spanish Dodge 8 wheel tippers in 1980, apparently they gave good service and were well liked.

I beg to differ, I had one years ago and found the Scammell Routeman like gearbox delightful.

I spotted this Ex City of Plymouth Leyland Atlantean at rest on an industrial estate within the City today, I almost certainly would have been transported in this back in the 1970’s…

That’s superb, bonus points for lack of EV charging.

Exactly, it’s not progress it’s going backwards for the working classes but beneficial for the middle/upper class. Great for social equality that.

Ah, I didn’t know that. I bet the vast majority of these hateful things on the road are company cars with all the tax breaks, just an observation in my working class neighbourhood where there are no EV’s in sight!

About 20 years ago, my youngest Son is now a bit of a unit, the car and blanket are still in my possession👍

I’ve bought a convertible for Wifey BS6 as she’s really missed her Mercedes SLK after it was sold last year, standing by for being ribbed about buying a VAG dirty diesel! It’s a great car this, recently had a new turbo, clutch, cam belt and water pump, tyres, full service and a few mods and remap which makes it rather rapid, and a bargain purchase price hence the impulse buy.

I’ve still got my full set of the smallest and dullest motoring publication.

I do like a manual column gear shift as fitted to a certain very old Ford I own! I do recall driving an early 1980’s registered Mazda pickup belonging to my employer in 1988 that was manual column shift and being surprised that a vehicle of its age had this.

That does appear to be the ancient Ford Cargo cab, it’s a funny old World where an Indian truck manufacturer currently uses the Leyland ‘plughole’ badge from the latter era of Lorry production in the UK, but you can now buy a Chinese electric MG car here if you wish.
