I think white spirit can leave a residue so maybe not ideal. you can get proper panel prep that’s not expensive but I just use something that can flash quickly like brake cleaner on rag I wouldn’t use wet wipes as the can also sometime have soap or oil in them . If a car has had a mix of paints in the past body shops use an isolator layer to stop it reacting . I’d also use plastic primer on the bumpers most of the flakey bumpers you see is because they got painted in regular primer, which cracks when the bumpers move .

It could be the same with any car though. Any car on gumtree with a full MOT could have a toffee one you'd never know. You can check the MOT station if you have the v5, if the new MOT was done it Dudley and the car's in Edinburgh then it's probably not a good sign.

Just don't buy it until the mot is done. It is annoying though why do they not just get it done before advertising it?

To be fair the advert says "Coming with full year MOT", which I read as hasn't been done yet.

I think a diesel on springs like HMC's is going to reduce the liability factor greatly I don't think the old BMW 525d engine is hugely complex. I remember reading about the issue with the later v8's I think the combination of worn out tooling and them maxing out their capacity made them pretty problematic.

This series is quite interesting . It’s surprisingly good at some things and surprisingly bad at others .

It seems to be very flowery in it's wording making the advert clearly AI generated. However when I did my ebay advert or my C6 I asked chat GPT to sanity check it and it pointed out some pretty good points that I missed. It did also attempt to re-write the advert but I'm pretty sure it used the word "resplendent" in the advert text so I binned it.

The e36 M3 is a proper performance car and will still feed fast today,. The 190 is cool but it's heavy old and underpowered. Both are cool but if you're looking for performance car then it would be the M3 all day for me. If you're looking for something that might go up in value that's different I think folk are looking at the price of the E30 M3's and wondering why these are so cheap so it may no last for long. The 190 EVO's look amazing but seem to cost around 1/4 of a million quid.
