Interesting comparison of Alfa Giulia Berlinas here (one of my all-time favourite cars).

So I got fed up of driving a sensible, reliable, economical Japanese hatch and have taken the plunge and got myself the Alfa Romeo I always wanted. What could possibly go wrong?!!

Picked this beauty up today courtesy of your friend and mine, D_Hirst Esq. Lovely condition, stacks of history and only 61k miles. It drives bloody lovely and it makes a change for me to have something that actually handles pretty respectably!

It's a 1.8 T Spark 16V and has been owned from 6 months old by the same chap, even had a full respray about 5 years ago.

Those round the world Minis need leaving as they are.  As soon as someone slaps a brand new Heritage shell and new engines on them or something, they become worthless replicas in my eyes because they're not the same cars.

I've never dared watch Threads even for the curiosity.  I'd rather remember the 80s through my rose tinted glasses of being a 10 year old playing out on bikes and making dens and Lego!

I knew as soon as this was officially announced that the neagativity would be piled on in spades.  I for one am going to get the build date of my 1974 car verified and apply for a change in taxation class immediately and take full advantage of it.  If it is repealed at some stage then so be it but for now let's celebrate a small old car victory.

The only fair system is to pay for usage whether that is per miles or per gallon of fuel and I can't see that happening any time soon at the moment.  I have five cars and I can only use one at a time so if I can reduce my costs, I'll take it and say ta very much.  When I want to run one on a dry day in winter but can't because I have to have it on SORN it's a pain in the arse.

Modern cars really are quite massive compared to oldies. My R16 was a decent sized family car in it's day and now it looks diddy between this Clio and Focus. I bet it still has more room inside though...

A few random shots from the Mash archive now of holiday snaps in the mid-80s. Quite why it was thought necessary to photograph these first two random car park views, I'll never know but it does provide us with some good shite now:

Would have been better if my parents had a better camera back then of course!

Two Fiesta related ones for Mk2 Craig now. The red Mk2 was a hire car on it's first time out - a weedy 950 Popular being the cheapest car my dad could find to hire for the week!
And who's that handsome young fellow with the dog?????

One from my home town of Beverley. Scarily this postcard was bought from a newsagents only a couple of years ago though unfortunately the car park is not usually filled with late 60s estates now!

3 zoomed images from one postcard of Helmsley, early 70s

Marble Arch in the late 50s - that Dauphine could be well travelled...

..as this is a view from Ireland!

    Early 60s seaside now

I know it's an old thread to resurrect but I've been sifting through a load of old postcards and photos recently. I used to pick up the cards cheaply at fairs though some of the better ones were a fair bit more and I've got loads with street scenes - I kind of got addicted at one stage!

Here's a few to whet the appetite:

Hull in the 1970s, Avenger, early 99, smart Wedge and a 610 Datsun coupe

Is it just coincidence that the photographer got thes two UK 1100s here??

The Lygon Arms in Broadway with 70s shite

And the same place a little earlier - fine British machinery

    Wow a K70

Lots of typical early 60s stuff. The number on the Mini is now on a Honda according to RAC...

HB Viva the most modern here I think

A lovely shot - the Sceptre expired in its 20th year

    Late 60s in Llandudno
