That's quite so. Some of the French ones and even the Japanese series that's doing the rounds at the moment are made by Norev. Buy them from someone in Hong Kong off eBay for a fiver with no box, or wait for Norev to release it in their standard range and get a slightly different version, or often a new colour in a nice box for £23.Take your pick.

Blue one is a Hillman Hunter, silver is a Mk2 Cortina. Easy mistake to make since they are very similar in appearance in estate form. Both introduced late 1966/early 1967.

One of those Japanese cars that doesn't really know where it's supposed to fit in, like the Nissan Stanza.
-
I like those Integras, one of my teachers bought a red 1.6 EX 16v brand new in early '87 and it was the coolest car in the car park with its pop up lights, until it was trumped by the biology head's Volvo 480ES! What did it replace? Rarest survivor (I reckon) of all UK Hondas: a Quintet. In fact, that was probably the last Quintet I ever saw and for some reason now the model holds a strange fascination for me. Can anyone show me evidence that they are not completely extinct???? Bizarrely both these and the Integra were also sold as Rovers in Oz.
-
They are related in that they both came from the same person who also frequents these hallowed boards The 410/411 like Nigel's was not imported to Britain unfortunately, sales of Nissan-Datsun cars only began in late 1968 and my 1000 with another 5 cars were the first ones which were owned by the company and lent out to the press. It has an interesting history which is too long to go into here.I'll let Mr. Bickle fill in the history of Moomin which he kindly outbid me on I'll get one, one day!The 140J was badged Violet in the Japanese market but only officially here in the late 70s with the A10 model.

They're nice models overall, though a few are a bit of a dodgy shape. One of the nicest in this 80s cars series is the Talbot Samba. It's about time we had some models of family cars from this period.

Big difference between bonafide biker chappies and twats that get a CBT and think they rule the road.I had a scooter knob come to a skidding halt at a T-junction the other day as he thought twice about pulling out in front of me. 100 yards up the road he overtook me just as another car was approaching and barely squeezed through the gap accompanied by as much horn as I could extract from the feeble trumpet on my Sunny! Two minutes later we were on the bypass and I was zooming past him of course. No offence meant though if anyone rides a "Ped".Well OK maybe a bit

Some of the Pathfinder models are not particularly good. I went through a phase, before I got my own house and had a good bit of spare cash, of buying a few of the nicer ones like the Super Minx and FB Victor when they came out, they were between £50 and £75 back then.I have a few of the 1950s subjects I'm going to move on at (I hope) a substantial profit to finance my full size stuff, but I agree £325 is bloody ridiculous. Good investment for me if someone is prepared to hand over that kind of cash though. The Standard Pennant is gorgeous and should buy me something I'm currently bidding on on eBay!Only 600 of each example was made, 300 in one colour, 300 in another. Thing is, since then (mid 90s) models have moved on so fast and the diecast companies have cottoned on that people actually want mundane saloons so there's a lot of fantastic stuff at affordable prices. The Super Minx is still unique though I'm pretty sure.

There's now a 1/43 diecast model of the 82-86 Mazda 323 by Sapi. They also make some nice Honda Civics. Just do a search on eBay. No GT version yet though Ed.

Yep, been a big ole development around the station this year. The original Victorian architecture of the station that is exposed once more is much better but it still looks a bit bland to me. I think I did get the card from there, they had another with what looks like exactly the same blue Hunter coming through North Bar (a historic archway in the town which meant the buses had to have specially made roofs) but I can't find it.

That's TAS - Triumph Acclaim Syndrome, it's quite a common affliction for 80s cars but there's no cure and is usually accompanied by terminal tin-worm. Rover 213s have the same disease Actually because the N12 body is so light, I bet it'll go like shit when the motor's sorted. Good luck with that one Ed.

One from my home town of Beverley. Scarily this postcard was bought from a newsagents only a couple of years ago though unfortunately the car park is not usually filled with late 60s estates now! 3 zoomed images from one postcard of Helmsley, early 70s Marble Arch in the late 50s - that Dauphine could be well travelled... ..as this is a view from Ireland! Early 60s seaside now Mk2 Zodiac looks smart [/b]

Jeez, that must be the only one left in the country 70s Mitsis are like rocking horse sh1t, keep an eye on that baby.Obviously changed hands fairly recently as it has nasty Euro plates on it.

Here's another selection: Keswick with some nice 60s stuff, i really got this for the Triumph 1300 behind the Herald I'll bet this quiet little street is chock full of cars these days One for Mr. Bickle at the back here! Love the Victor and the 6/80 looks tidy in its 10th year at least Nice 50s shot with a Mayflower defining shite from that decade! Beetle shows an early European interloper, wonder if the man in the mac was shunned at the country club for buying a German car so soon!!??
-
I'm going to stick my neck out and say Datsun 1200. In fact there was one the same colour running about here for a while not too long ago but it seems to have disappeared now. Wonder if it was the same one Coincidentally I last saw it in the waiting area under the station offices in the pic... Just noticed - is that a Renault 8 on the left in the Llandudno pic???
-
I know it's an old thread to resurrect but I've been sifting through a load of old postcards and photos recently. I used to pick up the cards cheaply at fairs though some of the better ones were a fair bit more and I've got loads with street scenes - I kind of got addicted at one stage! Here's a few to whet the appetite: Hull in the 1970s, Avenger, early 99, smart Wedge and a 610 Datsun coupe Is it just coincidence that the photographer got thes two UK 1100s here?? The Lygon Arms in Broadway with 70s shite And the same place a little earlier - fine British machinery Wow a K70 Lots of typical early 60s stuff. The number on the Mini is now on a Honda according to RAC... HB Viva the most modern here I think A lovely shot - the Sceptre expired in its 20th year Late 60s in Llandudno More to follow...

Spotted's Spottings (2023 holiday updates #2 23/09/23)
Mash replied to Spottedlaurel's topic in AutoShite
As a new user it's taken me days to go through all 35 pages but well worth it.Carry on the good work SL -
Yep it's the early panels, the car was registered in Feb 1974. Can't remember when they went on sale here.I'm building up a big history file about OKJ213F and have a lot of AF Tann stuff - the Motor letter is just a small photocopy but I think there's also a letter from him to you about ten years ago.Sorry I seem to have hijacked the thread!
-
Coincidence - I got halfway through the Escort in summer. The 3 kit pack has been reintroduced by the way this time with the Escort, Herald and HA Viva. You can buy it direct from Airfix for about £14 (or you could before they shut the factory in Hull!! Might still be made in China)My pride and joy in my collection are the Marina and Maxi. It took me about 15 years to finally get ones at affordable prices (the Marina was only £20 and it's mint!). They were cheap enough to build but with the current prices where they are it's a bit of a dilemma
-
Wow, tidy looking example that. I really like the styling of the saloon, shame there aren't too many left here.
-
Here you go The 1000 is currently the only roadworthy one in the UK and one of only about 4 survivors I think so it's fitting that it was the first one imported too.
-
You do have good taste in Italian styling Mr B - Fiats, 411s and a Bellett too. Great stuffAny piccies of the Bellett? I love these, it's a shame they weren't imported here.
-
Odd that it's not a Hull firm though. They did a Marina taxi too which was Hull registered but from somewhere else
-
Oh cool I've been waiting for that to be released. I got the Cortina Mk5 and Granada Mk2 in the same sereis and they're fab models. It's great that Ixo/Altaya and so on are around now because they're doing loads of 80s stuff that's never been modelled before. Seat Malaga saloon anyone?!
-
Oh so many to choose from. Top of the list would be these:
