  1. And now the American stuff from the same magazines. I won’t try to add dialogue as there are so many , just the adverts but yes that is a Ford jumping over a hedge.
  2. I took my kids to their first ‘flea market’ last weekend up in Connecticut and amongst the broken Ikea chairs I found a box of late 50s through late 60s ‘Life’ magazines going for buttons. Some were intact but many were just loose pages and it was starting to rain so they were agreeable to a less than buttons offer. I bought them mostly for the beautiful advertising of domestic US cars of the day but I found a few interesting adverts for the fledgling foreign muck that would eventually bring Detroit to its’ knees (apart from Peugeot of course). I’ll scan the US stuff when I get time but for now, I thought these adverts for ‘imports’ of that era might be of interest. Luckily for Mr Tuttle, the states has never had anything the shape of a 20p coin. And by contrast to the to those mostly grim B & W 3rd world adverts above, have a picture of the glamo(u)r that a set of native wheels could give you in the same period. And a couple of Random ones. All the best, Ian.
  3. I passed my US driving test some time in the 90s after driving in the UK for years. Part of the US test was to reverse in a straight line parallel to the curb. Looking over my shoulder to reverse I figured I wanted to get a bit closer to the curb so I went to turn the wheel slightly only to find that the tester (a state trooper) was holding the steering wheel so I couldn’t move it and could only go straight.
  4. Lovely cars! I can't be the only one who thought 'Tangoed'
  5. Probably old news by now but I am sure there a few mini driver/wanker jokes to be had here http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Mini-driver-smashes-fish-van-pleasuring-sex-toy/story-26891651-detail/story.html
  6. Saw this a few years ago just up the road from me in suburban NY
  7. Are these things in the US the same? As you can see they don't rust
  8. How does one change the title to a thread? I have just updated a spotting thread and would like to update the title with a date. I used to update something in page one but I can't work it out these days due to old age. Ian
  9. Have not posted in this thread for a long time. These are spots over the last 12 months, most local, some on a Florida trip. And my brother sent me these whilst stationed out in the Congo: The local firestation And watch out for the palm trees http://s182.photobucket.com/user/poundsandpence/slideshow/081314
