  1. Think you're right. Might have been a development of what was fitted in the 1990s Escort RS2000?
  2. Apologies for thread hijack JJ - I’ve got that Brink detachable towbar on a 2016 facelift F31 and it’s never been quite right in that the reversing sensors aren’t disabled when a plug is in the electrical socket, so they go mental when a bike rack is in place. @Barry Cade what would you recommend? Previous car was a J11 Qashqai with a switch in the socket that disabled the sensors, but on the BMW there isn’t even a dashboard switch to turn them off (this car has rear sensors only) so I just have to put up with the audible torture when reversing!
  3. Got it in one. Three cables in the mechanism and the one that has failed has chewed up the pulley which is directly turned by the motor. Much as I'd like to just get a fresh cable, it looks like a massive ballache and my patience is in short supply. So it's new regulator time. Now, where do I get a replacement from? There's a very good reason why I don't want a secondhand one, and a new part needs to be a decent balance between cost and quality - open to suggestions
  4. Probably was from new, then stopped working properly after a few years leading to a conventional one being fitted. So likely there’s a second connector lying loose behind the radio unit.
  5. Hey wassup crew, who wants to guess what comedy BINI fault presented itself last week, based on this photo and only this photo. @Aston Martin you can’t play 🤣😂
  6. Yeah, there must be literally zero in the British isles that have the actual appearance of an authentic working French van. I’d love to be proven wrong. Here’s another one seen today, this time capable of moving under its own steam. Owners made a cunt of the number plates though.
  7. From (gulp) nearly 17 years ago. Today: Hasn’t moved an inch. Except possibly the floor pan is an inch nearer the surface. Also an interesting variation on a theme : Shit rather than shite, likely.
  8. My sisters ex had or has a 190 Cosworth. I’m sure he said the injection system had gone to ratshit and he was looking at replacement kit, megasquirt or something like that. No doubt makes a massive difference over tired original components.
  9. If it’s anything like the higher spec fiestas of the same age, there will be a tilt switch located where the bootlid travels through the biggest arc. Though on the fiesta this was a single wire switched earth.
  10. Does it have a Mercury switch or similar which activates a luggage compartment lamp?
  11. No harm in adding a Disklok to the order as well, these things do keep going missing even in this day and age, somehow the twoccers trade is getting passed on down the generations.
  12. More? Ok but probably cheating Definitely cheating
  13. And bringing things up to date (in case you cared, the reg mark on the rear one is 3 higher)
  14. Ah go on then, seeing as you asked so nicely.
  15. Not going to lie, when a thread has a title like this and has an overwhelmingly negative narrative throughout, it isn’t exactly focusing on any of the car’s good aspects and creating some form of positive impression for potential purchasers. There will be someone out there who is both able to see past the downsides and with the necessary skills/time/money/troubleshooting knowhow to get it back up and running, but finding them quickly will require a different approach.
  16. Did MGR's Project Drive efforts affect the TF to the same extent that it did the 75 etc? You might find some "improvements" could be made by salvaging trim etc off earlier examples.
  17. Bored at lunchtime. Decided to go for a virtual drive around Malta and Gozo. Starting in a random lane and instantly finding a rich seam. I might not get much work done this afternoon.
  18. Twenty years ago standard Sierra Cosworths were right at the bottom of their depreciation bell curves and unless in perfect condition were worth more in parts than as a whole, especially if the engine was any good. Most had the arse modified out of them because they were cheap fast cars which the Max Power readership could afford to buy and occasionally insure. Even back in 2010, when I sold mine, they were a bit unfashionable and values stubbornly low. I let it go for 3 grand, which was not one of my better decisions but at the time I couldn't convince myself it would be anything other than a future money pit.
  19. Now with change from only NINE grand.
  20. And just “re-taxed” for a further 12 months. Interesting
  21. Crap, I’ve just burned the pancakes. Turns out the seller is actually MY NEIGHBOUR.
  22. Ah shit man, just look at how much more you could have earned with a poorly-drafted description and a few hastily-snapped photos outside some old pile. £50 says this is back on the bay before the month is out.
