  1. the original ecu looks fried. you will want to make sure the parts numbers match up and buy one from the same year ideally.
  2. Then i'd say theres a very high chance it could be the culprit! are there any auto electricians in your area? Someone like that could probably very quickly diagnose the issue as this is what they sepcialise in and they'll normally come to you.
  3. Hard to say, what was it connected to?
  4. I do hope you get it sorted soon, must be so frustrating having a seat stop it from being used. I'd definately take someone up on the offer of a seat pick up from France, they have loads over there. Or just pay a breakers to send one over, will be a bit of cost but worth it in the long run. I've had parts send over from France before without issue. Also if you have it booked in for an MOT you can even legally drive it there without one, so long as its being driven straight to the MOT station: "You cannot drive or park your vehicle on the road if the MOT has run out. You can be prosecuted if caught. The only exceptions are to drive it: to or from somewhere to be repaired."
  5. Is it not possible to unplug the ecu, dissasemble the seat and then reassemble in the correct position again? There will be breakers yards in France with the seat (passenger side), try google.fr with a translator perhaps.
  6. Well done for rescuing it! Sounded like it was needing a replacement ECU, they can be found on ebay for around £25.
  7. honestly, that's brilliant to see it saved! hopefully we'll see some proegress updates.
  8. it is now on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175907832356?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=tqZWSw08Qmu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=8AFYP6nlRMa&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Apparently it will be scrapped if it does not sell on this auction. Seems a bit harsh as it's only been up for sale properly once.
  9. All the more reason to just punt it on facebook or ebay and be done with it. If it goes to a banger racer so be it but at least it gives it some chance of being saved or providing someone else with rare parts rather than saying he really doesn't want to scrap it but is close to doing so because nobody has taken him up on it .. but he's not even bothered to advertise it anywhere . Normally people admit defeat after actually trying to sell it! Just seems a waste of a rare car with such low miles that someone out there might actually want to rescue if they knew about it.
  10. I don't understand why he doesn't just fit a new ECU and fix the issue with the seat or advertise it and give someone the chance to actually rescue it, he's posted it on twitter with a very limited audience but nowhere else as far as I can see. It can't be saved if hardly anyone knows about it being available. Swapping the seat for a manual seems like a good idea or getting an ECU is easy, i've looked and theres a few on ebay for around £20. For the money (£250 he was asking) a little rust on the roof and having to fit a door trim isn't much to complain about.
  11. I didn't think sense was a big factor in saving shite old cars on here!
  12. I would have had the skills, hoping someone with alittle more skill than me might be intersted.
  13. I stopped to look at it when I drove past and it just didn't look rough at all, couldn't see any rust other than a tiny bit around sunroof. But for an almost 30 year old car it's remarkably clean. I think the owner thinks it's worse than it is and he's made sod all effort actually trying to sell it other than a single Twitter post so not really giving the car the chance it derserves. Surely someone on here can save this?
  14. looks like the poor Safrane will be going for scrap, seems a shame as it needs minimal effort.
  15. I iwsh I could take it on but I just don't have the skills sadly. Really hope it finds someone who wants to rescue it as I douvt it would take much, as the post says it's the seat being stuck down which is all that's stopping it from getting an MOT.
