Again, it’s usually a couple of weeks of not hearing from my insurance until I get seriously fed up and end up calling/emailing them for an update. This time, it’s gone from good to bad (again). They’ve received a statement from the third party’s “driver” who still claims to have not hit my car, but is now admitting following me to Asda. His statement is full of lies and actually admits (without realisation) that he’s in the wrong lane to go where he wants. My insurance handler, again, didn’t know which way to go with this so I’ve had to basically tell her how to do her job. This is all beginning to give me pains in my chest. The thought of that prick getting away with it boils my piss so hot it’s turned to steam.

But anyway, on a lighter note....

ive been using it every day. It’s alternator belt squeals occasionally and I’ve been adjusting the belt when it does. Until it reached the end of its adjustment. I took the belt off to find it’s borked. Completely. A trip over to a local motor factors had some in stock so I bought 2.  No more adjusting the belt for a while!

So when I left work last night I got the drivers window down about 3 inches before hearing a crunch. Ouch. Took a bit of jiggling to get it up again.....ooooo eeeerrrrr.

Ive been needing an excuse to refit the original drivers window from the original door due to the security* etching rego Mark.... I like things to add up. Luckily I’d got spare everything for this door. I had to strip the bear bones off it to get the window and motor out. I found the exterior door handle metal retaining pin had become dislodged (probably from when the body shop had removed and refitted it to paint) and not refitted it correctly. What a nightmare getting all that back together. Also used the seals and runners from original door as they are in better condition than the ones on this door.

    More Matchbox in Tescos.
I do like the Mercedes, think I'll take the numbers off if I can. There also was a Banana car and a Vw Trekker/Thing too but I passed on those.

No such thing a 'grandpa spec' nowadays, soon everyone will be driving 'premium' German euroboxes.

We'll see Paul, I was hoping to have it at our meet this Saturday day time but I don't have time to get the work done and moted then, chances are that I will still have it next year, the more I've worked on it the more I like it! (Although I still would sooner have a MK2!)

A few short sessions during the week sees this side mostly stripped now.

I have a decent amount of time to get this finished off tomorrow - and it'll probably take most of the day as this side is by far the fiddliest area of the whole car. Major milestone imminent!

Some time ago communication was made with Sam Glover regarding a Datsun which was polluting the Eastern bloc/Soviet nature of his vast fleet of vehicles...after a period of radio silence a deal was struck and in an utterly uneventful manner not worthy of Autoshite said Japanese vehicle was delivered to my premises not a vast distance from that of the Glover lair.
After some mild grimacing, a new coil, bodged thermostat housing, many flushings of water through the system and multiple brake bleedings the Japanese Lamborghini is driving after a fashion.
I hope to take it to its first show next month and will be posting about on ere from time to time. My initial thoughts/feelings about it are very favourable, those chaps in Yokohama knew how to build a car even if they'd never seen one...that sort of vibe. The steering is 'boat like' as it should be in any RWD 70s budget, the clutch and gear change are A1 and it is fast if you are used to driving a Morris Minor.  All in all I am most pleased with it!
Heres some piccies of it outside its garage and another of the master cylinder full of crud.

Had a bit of a splurge on 1/36 Corgis of late with these ones. I’ve already got the Acclaim but the one I already had was tatty. A Candidate for a restoration perhaps. The new one is an absolute minter. The white and brown Mazda pick up is a bit of an oddity, despite being a Corgi casting its made by Playart of Hong Kong. The stall also had a Incredible Hulk one which in hindsight I should have bought as well.

For some people its any excuse to go out and sign on the dotted line for something bigger and newer cos better.  Mid way through the PCP the said bigger better car is caked in crisps and fizzy drinks and they start resenting the £299 p/m they signed up to, only to go and do it all over again after being offered £1500 trade in for the 5 year old MPV / Crossover thingy-me-jig.
However its their money their choice, this lot do ultimately keep the car industry going unlike myself.

Seeing as y’all seem to be enjoying the runt of the litter, here’s one more pic. No fancy products here (it’s a car worth a day’s pay) but Turtle Wax and some elbow grease seems to bring it up well. It also smells glorious....

Just gave it a half decent Wash and Brush up. Looks alright eh? Albeit the paint is thin AF on the bonnet and we don’t talk about the bloody wheels ?

I hadn't heard of mctoys before, and picked up a 309 off ebay. The wheels were rusted solid so I changed them and gave the car a tart up

I actually find myself disliking various cars of all ages - so called shite and moderns because of the people that drive them.  The arrogance that comes with new Aldi drivers, the chavvy BMW 1 series or birds driving about whilst texting in a fiat 500 all piss me off.   Obviously Brexit Party voting 75 driving grumpy sods aint' to everyones taste either.  But there some cars I wouldn't buy purely because of fellow drivers of that model.    I used to drive a MK1 Golf GTi Cabriolet many years ago but never bought into the scene bolox or once waved back at other so called dubbers driving past and giving that silly VW style hand signal either, not once.  To me it was just 'a car' that was in fact an utter bargain and very reliable.

This.  The daily Leon had this very issue which a realignment magically cured.  Shift sloppier than it was but preferable to losing two gears (fifth and first).  Quite easy to do...
