seth got a reaction from sdkrc in Shabby chic Farina
Amazingly tatty but goes to show they will just soldier on.
I think you guys have the wrong end of the stick regarding the CO-OC Obviously there are originality freaks but bear in mind a fair proportion (if not the majority) of members are/were connected to racing This was on the club stand at the BMC/BL rally a few years ago.

seth got a reaction from mk2_craig in Garage find - Humber Sceptre and 2 x Hillman Minx up for grabs
Having had a reply from the vendor I was happy that it wouldn't be a wasted trip so headed up to Croxley. Met up there with Maxustaxus and one other chap who had come along. We didn't know what we were going to find but were taken to the first garage (none of the cars are at the address mentioned above)
Well, there we are then, A Phase VIII Minx.
Post '54 as it has an OHV engine which would make it a more practical car than the earlier sidevalves.
Both inner wing tops are absolutely sold and what we could see in the darkness looked pretty solid other than the expected grot down the back edges of the front wings etc.
Interior looks minty.
Off to the next garage. The doors would only open this far and the car was under furniture and other stuff all around.
Finally there was this.
Again, another very good looking interior.
Right, I'm struggling with the photos so that will have to do for now.
All have been in those resting places for many years, probably 30 or more. All would require dragging out by some means. They will be cheap but they do require effort. It is likely that the garages with the Series Minx and the Humber will be cleared of all the other junk and bits in the next couple of days making access to the cars much easier.

OK here's a few more photos for you bored people, some taken today, some when I went to look at it.
An Engine. It's actually really clean with almost factory fresh looking paint on the rocker cover and side plate.
With the back seat down there's a huge flat load area.
I kinda like the half metal/half stripy plastic dash with oblong speedo. More indivjewel than the wood/round gauge combos in the upmarket models
Top giffer-bodge on teh car was this gaffer tape over the air vent - oh and the screen washers
Apparently water ets into the car but we shall see as ....
I pulled it off while being quite concerned it was going to be covering a nasty rusty mess. It wasn't
I've had screw in terminal batteries before but never ones with little colour coded T-bars!
And a couple of getting-dark-about-to-rain photos after a quck wash and clean of the windows and bumpers.

Hoorah! Its home!
Did the deal with Kenneth late this morning and it coped admirably with the journey home.
That /\ is the original tax disc holder from the supplying dealer
I'll sort out some more photos a bit later

Had a great run up and back to the NEC today in the Herald. Furthest its been in ages and ran totally hiccup free.
I think my favouritest sight there were the three Saab 92s side by side. I'm not sure I've seen even one of those really early cars in the metal before.

In an ideal world that would have three wipers (the correct number) moving side to side in a random sequence.

re. the wiper switch, might I suggest that you relocate the complete wiper mechanism to the top of the screen to avoid mucking about with the switch?
