  2. I went to the Glenisla Classic vehicle Club Annual Barbecue today. It was a brilliant event and the first since 2019. Everybody looked so happy to be there and mingling with cars and people, including me! Quick stop for a photo outside Kirriemuir on the way up. The sun came out not long after 9.30 and split the trees most of the day. This was car of the show for me, it was superbly 1983. Next I rode shotgun with @Tam in his Defender on the 4x4 run. I've never been in a Land Rover and certainly haven't been off road before. Fantastic fun, great views and some lovely old Land Rovers. This is Tam's TD5 one, I was surprised at how fast it is! The tractors came too. Lots of other interesting cars. This has 25000 miles on it. A supercharged Riley Elf! My Cavalier was the only one there until another turned up at the end. 90s stuff seems to generate a lot of interest these days. Estate Consul 315 After years of meaning to do so, I finally stopped off at the (remains of) last Little Chef in Scotland, at Balhaldie on the A9 just north of Dunblane. Not much to see unfortunately. No food here today. It was a fantastic event, bacon rolls, burgers and coffee were on offer. Very generous of the Club. I also spent ages nattering to another Vauxhall You Tuber about Vauxhall shite which was great!

  4. Those who are not aware, the town of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire is the home of the Pork Pie and Stilton Cheese. During my visit to the vintage market, which was mostly people selling tat that wasn't vintage at all, I took some photos of the cars which have become part of the regular display during the event.

  5. Ok, so it turns out working at cars is a lot less hassle when you have a bit of space and a flat(ish) hard surface to do it on. Never had this much room before, ever. Or tools/ ramps/ oil easily to hand. Good to get some pay-off from all the brain-melting stress of the house move earlier in the year.

  7. I've had my new daily a couple of weeks now. Taking some stuff out to the bin, I look at it and wondered if the little square inserts on the front bumper were headlight washers. To cure my curiosity, I opened the door, stood outside the car, turned the lights on and washed the windscreen. I can report that Yes, it does have headlight washers, they are very powerful and the screenwash tastes fucking awful!

In an old hunting lodge a few nights not far from balmoral. The journey up from Glasgow was an unhurried steady cruise which no doubt helped the not atrocious fuel consumption on this leg. We stopped off at a Highland games and gave the car a brief breather after a long climb later in the day saw the car get hot but not too hot. Fantastic roads. Was a good excuse for a break and quick team photo….

I'm at my unit for the first time in a while. Not sure if I'll actually get anything done, but it's nice to get up here and plan things. It's also a ridiculously nice view.

  14. That E34 would be tempting if it wasn't 4 grand for a high mileage car😅 Booked the tickets for the train and flight back to Newcastle, should be there at around 10pm. At least there's one thing to be excited about: the PC is now at 1! Had some nice fish&chips as well. Also, freaking Ford Scorpio, should have made an offer on that! It's larger than I remember them to be. Also Nissan Cube. Could hear the accessory belt scream from 100m away, a small puff of smoke was rising from the carpark before I saw what it was😂

A rare survivor has come up for sale in Norway now. This is a 1935 model built on Diamond T truck chassis the owner has no idea what it's worth so he just set the price at 10.400 pounds. https://www.finn.no/car/used/ad.html?finnkode=267362331

  21. There’s a twist. In addition to the Scotchland dwellers doing a border raid heading south, a certain scruffy Peugeot 205 will be doing an East-West sweep, depositing @loseroneat Tebay. His place will then be taken by @davehedgehog31who will be deposited in East Durham for a new pipe/slipper repository pickup.

Like many on here, I have a cheap car eBay saved search. While I wanted a TT, this came up "locally" for £550. So I did a quick hit of the buy-it-now button before anyone else did. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195269718822 Despite it only being 30 miles away, it ended up being a 1hr45 round trip over the Mendips and back. Nice road though and a pleasant journey. Current owner had his two sons use it over the last 8yrs. Youngest has gone travelling so they decided to get rid of it. Paint work is absolutely shite. Looks like the lacquer is flaking off. Might attack it with some G30 or whatever that polishing compound is. No paper service history and the current owner has never done the cambelt. Last serviced 2yrs/12k ago. Also only one key. MOT is only 38 days away too. On the plus side it drives really well and it even managed nearly 47mpg on the way back. Not bad from a petrol engine. No warning lights, brakes well and drives straight. Everything works bar the air conditioning. It's had an alternator recently and I think a new battery too. The house was in a nice area just outside Frome and the chap was a honest guy who basically just wanted to get rid of an old unused car from his drive. I don't think I did too badly in the current market for £550 buy-it-now. It's worth £280 scrap, so technically a £270 car? My first Ford product that I've owned and it's a decent steer. Not very exciting but as a tool to save miles being racked up on the Civic running around locally and saving the Boxster getting dented, it will serve that perfectly. I might treat it to an oil and filter change. Probably get it through an MOT first though. It should tide me over until I find a reasonable TT that has been relatively looked after.

That's my old car, I bought it in 2010 and sold it last year. I bought it so my mum could get around, then it stood a few years. I welded it all up and did loads to it then my mum passed away and didn't have it in me to finish it. Sold it for 750 with no mot. Young lad bought, put an mot on it then flogged it, been hovering around between buyers ever since. It really is a cracking car and that mileage is genuine. I put two brand new mitsubishi wings on it. I hope it finds a good home. My mum drove it all over the place.. deserves to survive as super rare now..

Currently in Germany. The other night I stopped for pizza and beer in a small place called Bargteheide. Pizza and beer. But what's that in the background? A decent and more to the point original and unmolested looking E39. I thought if it was still there when I finished my pizza I'd take a decent picture, but alas it left. But two minutes later... This time it was still there when I left. But what are the chances of two shite barges occupying the same spot within minutes? It's not like Germany is crawling with old cars. It isn't. Made my evening anyway.
