  4. Thats just it there is absolutely nothing wrong with Bollox,s posts at all, his posts are his opinion and he's entitled to hold them and voice them, he as well as all members should not be moderated for that, if people don't like it they shouldn't read them, I remember his posts not understanding all the hate towards over zelouse moderation as he was not affected, it seems now that this forum has now lost one of the old school better contributors, how many more have to go before people realise what the fuck is going on, What was it again we ended up with moderators for ? ah th

  5. Moderation has overstepped the line a number of times in the past few years imho. The difference is that previously those, like Bo11ox, who were on the "correct" side of the political spectrum were able to get away with a lot more than some others. The current crop of moderators seems to be either less overtly political or less inclined to let their political views influence their moderating decisions, which in itself I suppose is a good thing, but has resulted in those who have hitherto managed to avoid the naughty step becoming acquainted with it for the first time. I really do mi

  7. Your not the first and won't be the last. Next you'll be labelled a flouncer as you've said you're leaving. Most of the original posters have now gone thanks to over moderation. Unfortunately most of the mods don't give a shit about people leaving and the community dynamic dieing. I don't know why they don't care but they view others joining as replacements that keep the forum Alice. It maybe the case but the churn doesn't make a solid community like it once was. They tows their highly unpopular bollocks non-political line, thinking it's the right policy despite no evidence to it. What th

  10. Exactly this. They aren't threatening, they aren't offensive, they aren't nasty and they aren't illegal. The only thing they are, are a strong opinion. Why should this be moderated? The only reason we get told political is a forbidden taboo on here is because it causes argument. Yet you can cause just as much strong argument and disagreement by saying the Rover 75 is a pile of steaming shit. Should this it be verboten too and not allowed to have a strong opinion on here with anything at all?

Welcome to how the rest of the old school members have been treated. All your posts were politically motivated liberal remaining bile anyway but nobody could call you on it and you've never been moderated before! Come to the dark side where we can call each other cunts without fear of offending somebody and both sides can answer back. Nope it just simmers in the background. It comes back to light when a few longtime members finally get fed up and then blows up again. Usually when the over moderators step in and start interfering. It'll get blamed on the seasons/covid/weather... Yet that isn't the root cause of the strife.

Just thought I'd tot up the ones I know, because it's always struck me as a weird choice for a casting.... In small scale, you could have the well-known Majorette 5-door Or a sporty 3-door from Hot Wheels, weirdly The worst of the lot was this Polistil version which seems to be farily rare If you fancied a small-scale SEAT version you could have a Guisval ... or a slightly wobbly Guiloy Or a Mira! When searching for images of the above, I discovered another Spanish Ritmo in the form of this Dicoy, a short-lived brand with onl

I've been talking about this via PM, but it's too good not to share. The story as told to me is that after a Corgi warehouse fire in 1969, lots of stock was sent to a metal recycling plant to be melted down. My contact saved them from the furnace and so has one or two... I hate to think what else he has tucked away

  25. A pint to @Fumbler and to show I am not a poor loser one for @Skizzer as well! Having thought about it, one of the priorities with this car is reliability as it will be making fairly regular trips between Aberdeen and Lemans (just under 2k miles round trip) and having a relatively unstressed engine should help with that. The torque should ensure a fun drive whilst retaining some semblance of control. There are only 2 tyres still made for the rear, BFG All terrains and Avon ZZR semi race tyres. The last set (9 years ago) cost £1200 trade, and they will need changing at the end of thi

The 205 failed its mot in January on a bunch of brake related stuff which I couldn't be bothered sorting myself so farmed the job out to a local mechanic and £300 later I had a working 205 again. It went in for its test on Tuesday and barely made it out of the garage due to the crap tyres not gripping on the snow. It passed its test so we went and borrowed some wheels from the 305 estate with winter tyres and it's made an unbelievable difference to the traction in the snow. I would've loved to have had the Chevette out to play in the snow but I still need to buy a few bits and pie

I'd second that sentiment - 'another one gone'..although the irony about some of the 'dont' know what you're moaning about' isn't lost on me. Yep. Spambots. And approving new members? Occasionally 'coughing' and the odd 'tut' as guidance? Nah, what you need is this, and utter shit about 'glitches' et al. Oh, and deleting threads that might have discussions about, well, moderation.

And on road.cc too ( I did email them the above link, but no idea if they had the story independently). https://road.cc/content/news/if-you-dont-exercise-you-rust-280895 Keep breathing,” is the top tip for a long and happy life from 99-year-old Norman Gregory from Cockfield, near Bury St Edmunds. He also goes out on his e-bike pretty much every day. Gregory first started riding his mother's bike when he was eight years old and was soon doing 100 miles a week riding between his village and his grammar school in Sudbury. He still aims to ride at least 10 miles a day.

  39. You're more than welcome - mine's a 1600. My Scirocco is very odd, it's a two owner from new, same family & then Hillman Imp on here who I bought it from. You'd expect it to be quite nice, but at some point before either Scotty or I had it, it has had the very fucking worst respray in the world ever. It is astonishingly scruffy looking, but it's a nice drive, a good runner and has P-slots. I have five centre caps that I keep locked away in the garage, because they're probably still worth more than the car.

  41. Avid readers of my motoring musings will know that the MX5 is in the naughty corner following an incident where it stranded me on the way to A-Level results day... well thanks to government algorithms it was a shit show and maybe I actually dodged a bullet. Anyway it died and wouldn’t go again... and then ran badly... Ive tried various things and it still wouldn’t go properly. It’s booked to go to a specialist on Monday, and he’s going to pick it up on a trailer (at a cost!). So today I decided to have one last look... opening the passenger door made me look twice!

  44. This afternoon involved hauling about a significant number of extremely bloody heavy paving slabs. Has made my temporary (two years and counting...) parking space look a bit less shonky at least! Was going to flip the van around so everything is facing the same way...however the Jag's battery decided to show it's opinion of the ambient temperature being below freezing...so that's now on charge. To be fair... churning over 5.3 litres of V12 filled with 20W50 oil in -3C is no small ask! Especially when it's not been started in a couple of weeks and I know the charging syste

  45. The other difficulty is getting nasty comments about work done by a garage. There was some mud-slinging after the Rover 75's ABS light came on minutes after it had passed an MOT, but that's life sometimes, especially with 20+ year old cars. I think it's safe to say that anyone slagging off a garage for minor stuff has never run a garage. There isn't time to treat every car as if time isn't a worry. Jobs need sorting. I can (mostly) deal with shitty comments aimed at me, but it's not nice when they're aimed at friends/mechanics who are doing their best.

Once someone tells you that the time clock reflects in the windscreen at night you can never unsee it and you’ll want to rip your eyes out but... even once you’ve done that... you’ll still know it’s shining away. 😡 75s rule. There’s such a rich story behind them, they’re so ingrained in the history of the UK motor car. Their significance is far greater than most know or appreciate. I also love them so y’all can f*** ***.
