  2. I appreciate the fact that the Sierra bASe is no longer the darling of Autoshite. Things have moved on. It is LP, we’re now onto cassette. Our old local with sticky floors became a gastropub with vegan options and a washroom for our LGBTQAI+* friends. Nonetheless, there might still be a bit of interest. Here’s a nicely rebuilt cylinder head, ready to go back on the bASe over the next few days. I’ve also got a new water pump and carburettor too. Wish us luck?! *Sounds like the new Nissan 7 seater SUV

  5. In a week's time, I fly to New Zealand. Shortly after that, I'm buying a car with STUNO of this parish, and hopefully meeting JonNZ also of the beige (very busy at the moment, hence not much sign of him lately). Excitement levels are rising very rapidly indeed!

  11. Continued from Shite For Sale, https://autoshite.com/topic/37952-mg-express-td-van-sold/ I've done about 30 miles in it today, first impressions are good overall. Took a bit of cranking to start cold, as mentioned in the original advert. drives, pulls and stops well, a few rattles to sort, changes gear ok, alloys look in good nick, interior is quite tidy. Will get it on my ramp next week for a look underneath then put through a mot next month. Up dates as and when.

  13. First look at the Tula in daylight: I was worried that it's nose would disintegrate but there's actually still strength in there, aided by the fact that the Iron Curtain steel used in this scooter is like armour plate. I bet these square tyres were a right laugh* Happily it appears to be 99% complete (as opposed to bikes you buy off eBay that are 99% COMPLETE M8). All I've seen that's missing so far are the speedo, HT lead and the points cover. A bit of sop

    1987 Citroen BX - SOLD!

Today the foam arrived for the rear reflector panel so I could get that fitted. First sight to greet me was some lovely post-rain beading all over the car, I guess I did a reasonable job with the wax to get that. This would come back to bite me. I'd already filled the extraneous holes in the rear panel using more Gorilla epoxy, because it's pretty good stuff for the application. I now needed to do the same on the tailgate for reasons of strength on the panel. I had got some longer screws to accomodate the extra thickness of the foam I'd fitted to the panel and, annoyingly, one o

So this nice looking jiffy bag arrived on the doormat from France this morning. Contained this London Transport T key. Strange thing to get from France? I went to Nice for a few days last week. Turned up at the airport, put all my stuff in one of those plastic boxes to go through security. My box got put through the extra checks aisle. Man calls me over, shows me a perfect X Ray of the above key and asked me if I knew what it was. I'd only left it in my jacket pocket and brought it on holiday by mistake because I'm a bloody idiot* So I explain it's a s

  18. Some success today - but sadly not with the Discovery of Doom as the parts have not arrived. No, the Saab 9-5 passed its MOT today thanks to an understanding and shite friendly tester. Tomorrow it tows a road roller down to between Edinburgh and Glasgow (Shotts), then fetches some seats to go south, then fetches a load of bits for Mr 6C. Thursday i will head for Sheffield, Saturday Leicestershire and Sunday LeMans. A proper test.....

  19. That's an easy contest in my view...This wins hands down in my book. Never would have put it to Kia to pull off "badass" in car design, but they've done it. It looks like a 21st century muscle car...Which is exactly what they were going for I think. Got to be a bright colour though.

  20. My No.2 Visa 17RD has had a fresh MOT and needed a bit of work, Front discs and pads, CV joint cover, Rear fog light, Investigate non starting – no fault found It drives very nicely, but unfortunately in the 4 ½ years I have had it, it is starting to look scruffy, which is why through the trees from a distance is best. The n/s front wing was always damaged due to a tyre letting go when Gogentley had it. The sleeping Swans were not at all bothered by it beauty and carried on sleeping in spite of my diesel clatter and reversing quite close to them.

  22. Lads, lads, lads. Its been ages since I bought a thing, and I LOVE BUYING THINGS. I couldn’t sleep last night, for instance. I feel great because buying vehicles SOLVES ALL OF LIFE’S PROBLEMS (apart from parking permits). Anyway, I just agreed to buy a thing, with collection commencing today or tomorrow. In the meantime, let’s spy on the vendors house on street view shall we? My little bundle of joy is tucked in behind that rather tasty 164.

  23. I'm musing. It's that time of year when I start to think about buying something stupid, even though the car I'm using is perfectly fine. My recent adventures with an Alfa MiTo have got me looking at "what else" could I get for the same sort of money. Right now, I'm being very tempted by an Alfa 159, which I think is possibly the best looking saloon car on the road today. I mean Christ, just look at the magnificent bastard of a thing. What does the shite-mind think is the best looking saloon on the road today.

It's mid spec. Meat is the low spec version, and Meatiest is the full-fat all bells and whistles deluxe. I think it's basically a GTi interior on a 1.6 pez or n/a diesel. So an n/a equivalent of a TD TXD. Or something.

  32. Swapped the colours over on the wheels thanks to pound shop rattle cans and leftover wheel silver. Repositioned the number plate slightly. Bodywork has some shocking colour match repairs, not me honest! Nothing else to report except that I've done nearly 450 miles, mpgs are good and the speedo is very unrelated to the actual speed. Put it this way, 95mph on the speedo is 4000rpm in 5th. Apparently these top out at 88mph.

  41. Holy thread resurrection! Not much has happened with Chloe the Clio. I’ve just been using it, doing some quite long trips in it including nearly every weekend to work on the Royale which is at my parents in Southend. In the last month I’ve also been to Wolverhampton and to Oxford in it. Hasn’t missed a beat. Mindful the MoT was approaching fast, I bought a new back box on eBay as the old one was really rotten and blowing badly. It had a slight blow until I clobbered a nice fresh and large piece of roadkill on my way to work and broke BeEp’s homemade hanger on the centre pipe. I repai
