worldofceri
I like the format of this event. Just turn up and park. Nice array of random old chod in a more interesting setting than the usual field. There's always a couple of cars coming or going so the scene changes all the time. Took quite a few photos this year... Here goes: Definitely not a Spitfire. This ol' Jowett is terrific. Unrestored, full of bodges, mental brushed paint job. Luckily the owner seems to be keeping it as-found. One for the Vauxhall-fanciers. There were two Alfa Spiders; the other was an earlier one. mercrocker
worldofceri
Feckin' Photobucket keeps crashing my browser. Anyway, Sunbeam-Talbots: VeeDub section: This Scirocco was nice. Two different attempts at a Beetle ute. Mega-clean mkI GTi. Tidy Polo. I really like this shot. Makes me feel like a proper photographist. Porsche 356 in not-really-a-Porsche shocker. worldofceri
A bit of BL-type tat: Leyland Princess lives round the corner from me. A green British wedge. And a red French wedge. Mmm... A Rover P5B is on my bucket-list. I like Triumph 2000s too, but not sure if bright red suits them. mercrocker
worldofceri
Another for the Cavalier aficionados. Very nice Viva. 'Subject of an 18-year restoration'. This may have been the sole Jap car that turned up. Messerschmitt was certainly the smallest. Shite ice-cream van. Almost certainly a Spitfire. mercrocker
worldofceri
Saabs were out in force again. Minx cornering AKSHUN! Watched the owner of this chugging off later. RESKEPT! mercrocker
worldofceri
These two lurked in the corner looking well 'ard. Yanks! I really had the hots for this Plymouth. Not sure what was going on with this 70s-spec Corvette custom. Looked like it had just been pulled out of a shed after thirty years. Rat-rod vs. BMW. Rodder yields! There's a few more here if anyone's interested. mercrocker
eddyramrod
I like Triumph 2000s too, but not sure if bright red suits them. Oh I'd say it does, especially in Mk2 flavour as shown. I like that one a lot. Great selection here! I may have to try to get to next year's.

Lord Sterling
Didn't realise they did a classics show at Warwick, only down the road from me so I might turn up at the next one.
worldofceri
Here we go again, some photos from the 2013 show... Deal was the same as previous years: Just turn up in anything old and/or interesting and park up in the Market Square - regular parking is suspended for the day. They always get a really varied turnout and this year was as busy as ever - no doubt helped by the good weather - the overspill stretches down several side streets. I took along the Argenta and was just early enough to bag a spot right outside Costa and next to the ice cream van - so that was my spending money accounted for. The Argenta makes a friend. Authentically retro ice cream van served authentically yummy ice cream, I can confirm. And so to the rest, in no particular order. Bonnet up on this Chevette, proudly demonstrates someone's Zetec-transplanting skillz. Tidy Sunbeam. But wait! What's that behind!? It's only a bloody Tatra. Fantastic! 'Twas hard to get a decent picture as it understandably had a big crowd most of the time. Utterly bonkers machine, I loved it. Want Levels were exceeded many times, not least by this sexual Daimler coop. Stand by for a trio of '80s whitenesses. Which would you choose? "Does my arse look big in Orange?" "Yes love, yes it does." Just noticed you can make out my floral apparel in the reflection on the back of this Corvette. michiel, fordperv, Zantimisfit and 3 others
worldofceri
Check out these three! Let's have a closer look: First, '80s council estate spec Cortina. Allegro lives around the corner from me, I think. Didn't introduce myself to the owner, like, on account of being socially awkward and that. Brush painted purple and green Jowett turns up every year in remarkable and quite wonderful unrestored condition. Owner is doing a sterling job of keeping decades of giffer bodges intact. Gay Don turned up with the first evar Land Rover. Which was nice. DeLorean in not-Back-To-The-Future replica shocker. Good. No excuses for including these. Brit and Yank takes on cool old commercial. I'm no expert on engine i.d. but I'm going to stick my neck out and say this was running a GM small block V8. Plenty of... erm... interest... on this Type II. This Audi really stood out to me for some reason. Very nice. Audi have never done a bad looking car in my view. Shame the same can't be said of Warwick hairdressers vis-à-vis fringes. Hey look, another Audi! Maxi. No doubt someone will be along shortly to tell me the name of the colour. Sandflower or Harvestglow or summert. A couple of mkI Renault 5s turned up, which pleased me greatly. Mexican 205 was supa-clean. Anybody else think this Saab looks like someone's pumped a little too much air into it with no bumpers? OK, just me then. mercrocker, michiel, fordperv and 2 others
worldofceri
Nice to see a few rods and Yanks. One bloke turned up his bike, with missus and kids following behind in the roadster. Beyond cool. N.B. Not the bloke pictured, obvs. Chrysler Fifth Avenue. Random model name, really. Love the brownness though. This is more like it. Fantastic. Huge... but fantastic. And while we're on black things I'd have liked to take home... I have a T16 itch I'd really like to scratch. Couple of proper classics now. This Wolseley Hornet had patina a-plenty. HRG. Don't ever recall seeing one of these before. Ford Pop: To rod or not to rod? inconsistant, mercrocker, fordperv and 3 others
worldofceri
WTF is this all about? Were these weirdos at non-Chumley? I honestly find this incredibly disturbing and wish they would desist immediately. My first car was a pov spec Renault 5 and as such I always get excited by the swish Monaco version. A few from the retro-rides school of thought now: Neil Campbell off of old car magazine's Vitesse. Neil and Sam Glover came over and spoke to me about the Argenta. There's a chance the photo of me he took will be in Classic Car Weekly this week; I haven't checked yet. That's it! fordperv, michiel, Skizzer and 5 others
Sigmund Fraud
Brilliant pics, worldofceri ! The Argenta is certainly looking good. I'd love to drive the Jowett Eight back home, and that Tatra 97 is simply unbelievable

worldofceri
Warwick Retro is on again this Sunday. Always an excellent event. 'Twould be nice to see a shiteist or two make it over this year. I'll be taking Mrs_WoC's VeeDubyer if I'm allowed (or a leaky E280 and several makeshift drip-trays if not). Unfortunately the weather forecast isn't great this year; could dent the turnout a bit. worldofceri
Well, as expected the weather was terrible, but I took a drive down to Warwick in the torrential rain anyway. To my mild surprise quite a few folk had turned up, although the turnout was nowhere near that of previous years. I was directed to park up next to this example of future-übershite. VW's new supa-eco machine: Yours for a mere £100,000! Interesting to compare to my £800 Beetle, forty year old Beetle. It might go nearly ten times as far on a gallon of petrol, but it'll take a long time to recoup the difference in outlay... Service intervals are the same incidentally at 3,000 miles. The XL1 might be made of fancy alloys and ceramics and plastics, but rust is lighter than carbon fibre, right? Anyway, the rain continued to persist it down for the first couple of hours, so for a while I viewed the show much like this: After a while it started to gradually brighten up so I went for a wander. worldofceri
As it started to dry a bit a lot of folk started leathering their cars off. Seemed a shame to me, the beading of the water on a nicely polished motor (ie not like mine) looks really nice. This guy had done a nice job of rescuing this 80s Mini. No 'Cooper' stripes, wide arches of Union flags to be seen, just the odd subtle custom touch. A contingent from Gaydon had made the trip up in a couple of cars from the heritage centre. Unfortunately they got fed up and went home before the weather started to brighten. I was pleased to see they packed a lot of their gear into the MG and Armstrong Siddeley rather than their Discocovery 3 support vehicle and headed off into the rain. Hopefully the sun will be out again next year as this is usually a really popular event in a great location. Skizzer

inconsistant
Great thread Mr Ceri, just read it through from the start. This is the sort of car event I love, a load of random old stuff bunged together. Makes everything look much more interesting. The New Years Day classic gathering at Brooklands is the same sort of thing. It's nice to attract the whole range of old car peeps to something where it doesn't matter what you turn up in, how tatty it looks, or even if it has a bit of stance or pineapple. Thanks for sharing the pix.
worldofceri
Well, it's come around again... I couldn't make it last year, but this year I took the Saab down and took a flippin' shed-load of pictures. So, herewith Warwick Retro 2016, as seen through the slightly foggy lens of WorldOfCeri. You have to turn up pretty early these days to bag a space in the main square. (Unless it's chucking it down like in '14.) Managed to park the 900 just on the edge of the proper 'show area' - later arrivals had to improvise in 'unofficial' spots around the town. Clean BMW was the first to commandeer this patch of grass for car-show overspill. Muscle car meets archishite. No info available, but this Avenger appeared to have been imported from New Zealand. I think it was badged differently to the UK Avengers, but I can't remember how now. Someone will know, no doubt. V12 Jag was impressively - and appealingly - shite. Whereas Jag Coop was just beautiful. Porsche was a rare - apparently - 912e. Two litre flat-four! Never knew you could get a 911 as a four-pot. Two ways to do rear-engined. Very clean Golf. Loads of cars I would have loved to take home. 3-series cabrio was one. I'd probably pass on the six-wheeled Granada, however. Bodywork was so wobbly it looked like Nick Park had crafted it. No fucks given though, I expect. Skizzer, Jim Bergerac, mercrocker and 1 other
worldofceri
Early Beetle ran some sort of rare supercharger. Always seems to be something yuppie-ish outside Costa. Mister Two was mint. Check this pair out for a class act. Compare/contrast; All VXLS... etc. A bit of variety: Jim Bergerac, mouseflakes and mercrocker
worldofceri
Zagato-bodied Bristol. Amazeballs. I'm not against modifying by any means, or lowering generally, but I do think this would look awesome at a more sensible ride-height. About as far removed from stanced as you can get. I love the set-back headlights on early 'budget' cars like this Austin Seven. TR8 sounded pretty cool. Roland Garros Peugeot, aye. 'Stangs. mouseflakes, Jim Bergerac and mercrocker
worldofceri
Early Audi/Auto Union exercise in aerodynamic styling. Love the stripes on this Allegro Equipe. A Delahaye for crying out loud. Just casually parked up. Looked like the guy had lavished some time and effort on this breadvan. Very clean. Land Rover ran a modern tdci of some sort if I remember right.
