Renner Eleven

I was after this, I even had my brother lined up to collect it yesterday! I am SICKENED and DISGUSTED that you have denied my 11 dream. I almost bought an 11TXE in '88 but couldn't bring myself to sign the finance deal in the end, bought a bright yellow mk3 Capri instead. It dissolved within 2 years.I must insist you sell me the 11 when you grow tired of it.

GO ON MR. RENAULT 18 :) SHOW US YOUR 11 ELECTRONIC

What, like this?http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/5439/picture001oy8.jpgShot with FinePix F410 at 2006-08-16Great big cock :( - I thought that GTL had sold weeks ago and would have gone over to see it at the time if I'd only got my arse into gear. Still, great to see it's in good hands. According to the law, when selling an immaculate early Renault 11 that would be a great accompaniment to a TXE Electronic, the car must be sold only to buyers in Cheshire, specifically those living in my road and at my house, having the same name as me :wink:

Looks like my local Renault dealer should be able to sort me some new mirrors and gutter trims. No price on the mirrors yet but the gutter trims are £21 each which isn't too bad. Gave it a good clean and a bit of wax today too plus some rim embelishers to smarten the wheels up until I can get them repainted properly....

The paint in the engine bay is amazingly good. Only bit of rust I can find is some very minor surface rust on the reinforcer for the bumper mount seen here and an equally minor bit on the other side. I'm going to get busy with the cavity wax on this car very soon I think.

The finest 11s in the land should not be kept in a single location for reasons of national security - what if Al Qaeda kidnapped them? Can you imagine the impact on public morale if grainy videos appeared of them being 'slammed', having Ripspeed decals applied and 6x9s forcibily inserted into their unsullied trim panels? No, at least 1 of these (I don't mind which, both give me wood), should be securely stored on my drive in Hampshire.

Why oh why oh why did I sell my '86 Electronic only three years ago for what now seems a paltry amount.

Both of them look stunning! GTL looks even better after a polish so my jealousy gets ever worse :D

I am feeling serious R11 lust at the moment, last night I even considered joining ROC or RCCC to help in my quest...

Edit to add - to make me feel worse, heres a picture of wht I sold. Doh!

Was great but I owned it just as I was getting divorced and consequently had a shortage of time / money / enthusiasm. Ho Hum...

Yup, you certainly should NOT have sold that! Looks mint. Funny how things change. Although I've long wanted a 16 and have always ooh-ed and aah-ed over various 15's, 17's, 14's and early 5's, I would never have considered buying a 9 or 11 even just five years ago. I would never have guess what a nice car they are and mine is a relatively basic spec too.

It was very very clean. And all the electrics worked, right down to the talking dashboard!Seemed like the right thing to do back then but oh how I am regretting it now! They are a very nice car to live with, reliable if looked after and superbly comfy. I did a few long distance runs in mine and was always pleasantly surprised how capable and comfortable it was.

Don't joke - back in 1994 I sold my immaculate (save a cross-threaded sparkplug-oops)R11GTL with 29k on the clock. When I saw it a few months later it had been arse-ended - so badly the quarters were fooked, had said speakers crushing the rear parcel shelf and a bloody great big "On A Mission" sticker in the rear hatch window. I stood next to it - and wept.

Can't really add much more than what's been said about this car Eddie, other than the time warp condition. Can't be too far from being a museum piece. The colour is perfect too. There's every chance I have a spare brochure for this car knocking around, I'll dig it up next time I go to my folks. You're also very lucky in the fact quite a few toy models have been made of this unlikely subject for a model. Corgi have done both a 3 and 5 door 1/36 scale and matchbox did a neat 1/60 scale 5 door turbo and blue taxi in the mid 80's, and Majorette did a 3 door with an opening sunroof! I think the fact that it been well represented by the 2 major toy manufacturers is due to the cars appearance in James Bonds ' A view to kill'. I bet there's millions of norev/solido/unbranded 1/43 models out there too.You lucky lucky boy!

I've still got a few toy 11s - two of the big Corgi ones (one beige, one blue - the boots came off both of them!), a couple of the Majorette versions, and a Matchbox 'A View To A Kill' taxi version - I really liked Renault 11s in those days, and this thread's brought it all back! I even taped the launch advert off the telly.....

I'm sure I have a black Matchbox one somewhere too. Funny how it got so much publicity from a View to a Kill as the scene it was in was pretty brief really. Quite memorable though...

That Matchbox R11 looks more like a Tagora at the front! And a 5-door turbo...?

My model 11 is still reasonably intact, no James Bond style recreations here

OT (sorry), but is that the Matchbox Superkings Volvo 245 with the "bounceback" front bumper? Excellent...

I don't think so Welf, but I know the one you mean.I had the metallic red one too. Allegedly I could say 'Volvo' before much else. Probably still about, though IIRC the boot fell off. Mine even had nifty superkings-scale tax disc in the window.

Mine has the tax disc, a pair of reg plates and even a GB sticker (all of which I seem to recall my mother gingerly applying while I was aged about 3). The bumper... It slides in and out, was it supposed to be spring-loaded? If so, mine hasn't been for a large number of years!Back on topic, sort-of, my R11 sports French reg plate stickers, but I think these (and the Belgian ones on the RHD Escort) may well also have been originally supplied with the Volvo

IS THE WHITE ONE A CORGI ELECTRONIC?

My one has 'Electronique' on the box, but there's nothing to suggest there is anything vaguely electro about it! At the time Corgi where still featuring additional play value with flashing lights, working lights and tail lights when you press the vehicle down (MG Maestro!) and other assorted bleeps and sirens, so there might have been a chance Corgi released an 11 that did have electronic gimmickry. All good fun really. The first editions (circa 1979/80) Matchbox Volvos had bounce back bumpers, but the later ones seem to have lost that spring mount. The sheet of sticky number plates and tax disks were excellent additions. I recall the Matchbox 305 having the same type of sticker sheet.

I thought the Corgi Maestro was never fully released - like the Scalextric job. Must be worth a bit, now. Thanks for clearing up the confusion on the Volvo. Mine definitely had a bouncy bumper. I remember the number plate stickers now too!I'm pretty sure the R11 by Corgi came in maroon too - would be ideal to stick on the dash at shows, Ratdat! (Had a 1/24 scale Opel Senator to serve that purpose when I had a full-sized one).
