eBay classifieds: how f**king annoying.

Is it just me who gets royally dicked off by these. Firstly coz there's so many of them, so you have to wade through 8 pages of new A4's from the same dealer just to check you haven't missed a Daihatsu Applause in the next street for £20..... Then there's the numpties who use 'em. Made a chap an asking price offer on a motor today via the email system, cos the twunt-hole didn't answer the phone. Emails me back just now, the car sold last week. WHY NOT TAKE THE AD DOWN, MONGTARD!?(And for those of a nosey disposition, it was an LPG'd Vauxhall Agila. Obscure!)

I can provide a viewpoint from the other side of that exact fence, as I use ebay classified ads, I currently have about 15 on at any one time.The thing about ebay, the motor trade have to join it beacuse it`s the latest thing and the smashing new way to buy a car, but we can`t risk prime stock going too cheap if there arent enough bids. So rather than be a cock about it and pull auctions that are in danger of costing me money or shill bidding or any of this rubbish, I use the classified option, it gives me presence on ebay which these days is important without having to risk losing money and not only that but constantly coming up with really exhaustive descriptions that using the auction format entails.So I can see why it`s annoying, but all it boils down to is Car dealers trying to survive in an increasingly arsehole-filled (and that`s not just the customers) industry.

Utter cock. I dont like paypal, it charges too much, its not secure, its dicked me about in the past and cost me money and goods. So to be blocked from selling a pair of rigger boots unless I accept PayPal is frankly bloody ludicrous (and indeed several listings have done the same thing now, ebay wont accept the listing unless you specify paypal only - bastards)

It's Paypal or nothing on eBay Australia already - it's only a matter of time before the same thing happens here. I've already given up selling on eBay because I'm forced to offer Paypal on account of having less than 100 feedbacks. And I've no intention of getting a Paypal account for pretty much the same reasons you give.

Thats pretty disgraceful, I wonder if its even legal, that eBay are using their monopolistic position to force you to use their own money transfer system, with no customer service and exorbitant fees.Where cars/parts are concerned i thought it would be possible to put in the ad 'Paypal is accepted for a deposit but if you intend on paying in full by this means, please contact me before bidding' at which point you could tell buyers via email you'd charge an extra 3.5% or 70% or whatever to cover the 'theivingtwatpal' fees. That way eBay cant get involved and start pulling your ads.

I too got fed up with having to wade through pages of classified ads especially as I am a peasent and don't want to read these things cos I can't afford them, I noticed today that if you click the Auctions tab on the top left of the page and it will get rid of them, you also can just view the buy it now ads in the same way. I feels a lot better now!!!

I already put in my listings (where forced to use playpap) that I prefer a cheque (and I always send stuff out the day I get the payment anyway, only once in 8 years had a duff cheque) and that if they do pay using Palpay then it has to be a funds transfer, not credit / debit card - otherwise I just bounce them back. I still get shafted when i move the money to my bank account, but not as much as being shafted once to accept a credit card, then egain to transfer (my) money to the bank account.

Unfortunately, this is typical behaviour of eBay of late - they know there is no realistic alternative to their wondrous site for most things (without having to do shitloads of legwork etc) and so are beginning to royally take the piss. One wonders if the Monopolies & Mergers Commission could do anything about it (as if)...

Ebid has been around for over 5 years so it's certainly not new! I've been a member there for ages, never sold a bloody thing!

I used to do that until some wanker took exception to the surcharge (which ebay terms and conditions apparently forbid ) and reported me to ebay. C**ts cancelled all my open listings and I was barred from selling for a month.The thing which fucks me off most about Paypal is that they take a cut of your postage fee too. So when you add a bit extra on to cover postage and packaging thanks to the "PayPal tax", some spotty Herbert negs you cos the amount he paid for postage isn't the same as the value of the stamps on the envelope or box.

Ebid could be a goer, except its absolutley FOC to list so the cars section is just flooded with inane wank like stickers and seatbelt pads, presumably by folk who've written a program to auto-list their stuff.EVERYONE who sells on ebay does it feeling like theyre getting bummed - if a credible alternative came along folk would leap on it I reckon. Ebid is nearly there but theres just too much dross on it at the moment.
