I'd suggest changing the complete gear lever if that's practical. In my experience bits that are a pig to get off rarely go back on satisfactorily.
I could do with a gear knob, as the rubber on mine has fallen apart, i'm guessing they're the same as mine which is a '98 S plate GM 9-3 SLet me know, but if i remember correctly there a pig to get off.Cheers

A very lucky accident. The Saab stood up well and protected its unnamed driver well. Saw your fried Lancia too, and remember seeing the photos in PC some while back.March issue arrived yesterday!! I hope the next 12 months are better for you both
