ChinaTom
Here are a few snaps of the trikes that I spotted in WuXi the other week. These are VERY popular forms of transport in the frozen north - some of them have charcoal brick burners in the back to keep the passengers toasty when it's -40 (about 3 months of the year is that cold). They have chimneys sticking out the roof! Temps now above freezing so I can operate the camera button - at last, a glove-free existence! Shonky camera-phone quality I'm afraid Here is the latest copy of the Shogun. Only £7k brand new. This old girl is about to be scrapped - I am doing my best to save her, but it may be a battle I lose. There will be a 100t boiler here in 6 months time. We will pay anyone travel costs to get here (village called Yi'An, nearest airport is QiQiHaEr), if you stump up for transportation and deal with the Customs for exporting it. Finally, my latest ride - may not be shite, but it produced a fair amount of it on the journey through a small section of the Gobi desert. Can this job get any weirder? ChinaTom
My travelling companion has a slightly more powerful model. Tried to buy the coat, but the guard wanted over a quid for it. Rip-off! Parallel universe summed it up for us that day: deserts - hot and dry yeah? Not for us. Cold and it rained. Also, the camel shaped rubbish bins are a curiosity too. Footwear essential for sandwalking. In the distance was a warm comfy Toyota Prado waiting for us for the final leg of the journey. But between here and the Prado was a ski lift type of cable car to take us dangerously across the valley. Crazy place.
