bigstraight6
Spotted today in darkest Somerset outside the premises of an Audi specialists, its Gene Hunts car! I doubt its the very car, just like all the clone 'Del boy' Reliant Regal vans and 'Starsky & Hutch' Ford Gran Torino's there are about.... MrRegieRitmo
That can't really be 1979/80 V reg surely? I thought the very oldest would be X reg! Especially with that style of headlight.......wait - it must be Gene Hunt's car!
outlaw118
Early models started off 1980 lhd only, rhd production didnt start late 1982 if i remember - I read it somewhere, strange how some stuff stays in your head!
r.welfare
Aha, AM Cars, they are one of the longest-established Quattro specialists in the UK. I wouldn't be surprised if they located and fettled said Huntmobile, having said that the front numberplate does look like it's been stuck (rather wonkily) over the original one... garethj
*quietly raises hand*My VW In my defence, it's a hoot to drive and you're never alone at a car show. In fact here's me standing by a Torino at Croxley Green last year But when all's said and done, it's easy to make it look standard again, then it's just a 60s Beetle with speedy bits underneath Watching cars in the cinema or TV when you're young has a big effect
reallyloud
But when all's said and done, it's easy to make it look standard again, then it's just a 60s Beetle with speedy bits underneathI quite like it. I adored the films as a kid and was instrumental in me buying a couple in my yoof. But at least your car is authentic and accurate to the original, you see loads of inaccurate Herbie replicas - mostly superbeetles. I saw a Daewoo recently with a 53 on it. I wasn't fooled. michiel
I often see a dark red Ka with the stripes and 'ocho' numbers on it... silly. Should get a pic of that actually.
Marty
When I was younger I knew of 2 garages that had Jags made up with ST1 plates.
