garethj
I remember seeing a few of these around when the Mondeo was launched, was it just a kustom thing or did Ford really offer that colour? They always seemed to have big wheels, lowered a bit and always spotlessly clean. Anyone else remember them, or was it just the same one that I kept seeing? They're now shite-worthy, I saw one yesterday, first time in years and to be honest, the years hadn't been kind to it. No photo as I was zipping the other way on the bike, but surely any special edition has a warm place in the autoshiter's heart EDIT:Some googling has found Citrine Yellow
pogweasel
Our local Ford Dealer still has one liveried up as a promotional vehicle. No idea why they have held on to it so long, it's in general usage rather than a museum/showroom piece too.
retrogeezer
It was a Ford special I think....there is one around where I live but I've not managed to snap it yet.
Mr Lobster
was it just a kustom thing or did Ford really offer that colour? It was a standard Ford colour and actually featured in the 1993 brochure. Was only available on Mondeo Si as far as I remember
outlaw118
Yep, Si only - I've never seen an estate, only 4 or 5 doors. Horrid.
retrogeezer
I also remember a very pale yellow XR3 in 81 - not like the Citrine colour, a solid, pale yellow - really liked it.
Justin Case
One here for you:http://pheebay.com/1/?ARLCSMy late father-in-law at one stage had a lurid yellow Mk 2 Escort Ghia, which was the only car you could see in foggy weather . What was that colour called, I think it was a special order one
Guest
The XR3 came in Prairie Yellow when it was launched, alongside the more familiar sunburst red, diamond white and strato silver. I vividly remember seeing one at the time, and then never, ever again.
r.welfare
Yup, only available only the Si, I think for the first year, and also (I think) only with the awful "RS" bodykit. The kind of car that Vauxhall Conference footballers of the period coveted, methinks.I also remember seeing a load of Mondeo Ghias around launchtime in a kind-of metallic salmon colour. What were they thinking...
retrogeezer
Yeh, that models RS kit kind of looked like the car had melted didn't it!And I remember the pinky/red colour too, a bugger for fading just like the metallic red Honda's of the 80's. retrogeezer
Lovely model of that yellow XR3 here, the colour is'nt pale enough and for some reason they have painted the rear spoiler but the model looks fantastic....I think I'll be buying one of those.. http://www.biante.com.au/product_18496.htm

MrRegieRitmo
Is it me or are MkI Mondeo estates suddenly quite rare for their age? I hadn't thought about it, but seeing this one has made me realise I've either been paying them no attention whatsoever or they've begun to disappear from the roads already! outlaw118
In the absence of Cortinas, and Cavaliers getting to be thin on the ground I fear the banger chappies are using them now - the last meeting I went to there were at least 15 Mondeos of various body styles killed.
