I'm not sure I can picture what you mean by it being 'in one thread' ? :?

Oh hang on, do you mean just one board? i.e. General chat & err....nothing else! That's a point Mr EL & HS, how about some extra boards for things other than "General Chat" , e.g. "For Sale", "Shows & Events", "Technical Help" that sort of thing? For ideas, see what happens on other forums. Don't like to keep name dropping, but what they've done on Retro-Rides.com that kind of thing. Makes it alot easier to track down specific posts from specific people on specific topics etc.....

Problem then is deciding on what the boards are called :-)Spots has to be one, then magazines/adverts?

WHats the point of having 5 or 6 different boards? We only get 9 or 10 threads updated most days, why bother spreading that lot over several different boards? Sounds like fiddling for the sake of it to me.

A forum should only start splitting into seperate boards when there's enough happening to merit it.

And can I have another nudge to register the member imnotgordongano, ta!

I reckon if a separate For Sale/Wanted subforum was split off, you'd have it full of home traders like the RR one is.

Yeah I agree, there are enough places for people to try and sell stuff without adding a for sale section here as well.

Just ignore the twunt, he`s only doing it to irritate, sorry!, irrit8 and we`re playing into his hands by even mentioning it. Had the same problem on another site with a spammer who was posting loads of porn. They appointed a moderator, whose sole job it was to delete all that he sent in. Seems to have been effective in that there`s been no visible porn on there for a while now. No, I never looked at it. Mrs. Twigglet said not to. No, not me. Not ever. Definitely not.

There's no "he" to it. It's a spambot, a computer generated troll. I have stated before that it is EASY to negate this kind of thing, just takes a couple of extra clicks in the registration process. I have offered to set it up, and monitor the process (as I am sad and have nothing better to with my time). H-Sceptic, Eclectic LadyGarden... whaddya say.... ?

I was invited to the Citroen GS/Renault bash in Farnham by a nice chap who has also been waiting a while to join our merry throng. He owns a GS, R16 and an Allegro godammit! :D

I can supply details if needed.

I know this is from about a year ago, but I'm a good friend of this chap and as far as I know he's never been able to get in. He's got a GS, R16, Allegro has gone now, DS Safari, a couple of early BXs, Simca 1100 coming, Visa ditto, and he's just put a deposit on a '71 H reg Renault 12 on the IOW. If that doesn't qualify him I don't know what does! Username is probably ren16tx which he uses on other forums.

Cheers,

Mark.

Honestly, if the forums owners can't be bothered to maintain it they should at least allow somebody else to do so. It's not like there's a shortage of volunteers.

Hi hi,

To stop the newbie approval problems once and for all, and to make other improvements generally to the site, m'colleague Mr H Sceptre and I have been putting our heads together recently and at long last will be making the necessary changes in the coming days/weeks, and spending a few quid on it too. We will introduce a few new features to bring the site up to date.

One item on our agenda was the appointment of some mods.

Pog, Volksy, and more?

Also please speak now of any modification requests you would like to see. We've got a good idea what we're gonna so, but are interested to hear your thoughts. We've done this in the past, but would like some up to date opinions.

One mod that's worthwhile is one I used on a forum before that masked new users until their account was activated. They don't even appear in the members list unless activated which stops even their spam sigatures being visible.

More than happy to be a moderator to remove the spam type stuff, but if the changes will stop that then probably not necessary.
