Boring insurance question

Sorry to have to ask such a boring question, but some advice would be greatly appreciated. At the moment I only have two shite cars - a Ford Scorpio and a 1983 Mercedes W123. Both are insured with Elephant and I pay about 350 for the Ford and 300 for the Mercedes (both third party). Anyway, I have been offered a Peugeot 504 and I'm about to buy a van too (a Leyland Daf Pilot of course). My question is how do I insure them. I certainly don't want to pay another two lots of 300 quid. What do people do who have three or four vehicles on the road. Is there some sort of multi vehicle cover available and can anyone recommend a company. Thanks for your help.

Or go for classic insurance on as many as possible if you can, as you don't need NCB for those policies. Problem is you don't earn any NCB either. I would think the W123 and 504 will easily qualify, the Scorp' might do too if it's not a 'frogface' version.Wuvvum, Torsten or Nigel Bickle will be the experts on trade cover but I would have thought you're looking at a yearly premium of (just over) four figures? Might be wrong though.

It's not necessarily age, but that will help - the type of car can often cause them to refuse cover. 1987 Vauxhall Senator - no problemo. 1987 Vauxhall Belmont - very, very difficult. So don't believe the classic eBay seller-type flannel about anything over 10yrs old being eligible. As SL says, £100 per classic policy is the benchmark, I paid £80 for a year's cover, 1500 mile limit, on a garaged Mk2 Granada 2.3 with Lancaster. Watch out though if you sell the car before the policy ends, those buggers charged me an "admin fee" which exceeded the remaining premium credit (which was 6 months!!!).Membership of owners' clubs can also bring discounts with the classic insurance boys.Torsten - that seems like a good price to me given how many cars you have! Did you have to 'prove' you were a trader?

My 1986 Nova's been insured on a Firebond classic policy for quite a while now. Fully comp with agreed value and legal comes in at around £120. Footman James have recently muscled in however and it remains to be seen how flexible their definition of classic will be. Perhaps a shite category is called for :D

Good work. I recall it being a right arseache to get the Belamonte covered in late 2005. My existing classic insurance provider, Norton, said they would cover it, then rang me to tell me they wouldn't - after I'd happily driven the car back from Brighton (wonder what would have happened if I'd pranged it?). In the end, my local A-Plan got cover with NU.

They did have a chuckle when I had to provide colour pictures for the agreed value - it was a fetching shade of metallic brown...
