Am in the process of gettin' me bro over in Belfast to start sending me family snapshots from back in the day (early 70s thru 80s thru 90s), which involve our long family litany of tragic vehicular conveyances.I'd have 'em all back if I could. So post here, or watch this space! I wanna see some flares on Dads, people!

Ok, not a very good view of the car (understatement), but just to set the scene really.
I caused a huge row, got everyone annoyed and ruined yet another 80s style family day out in the winter.
Photo by bro, twat in back seat laughing - me. In the front fuming, parents.
Car - ROI 6967.

Hats off to ye for music taste btw Torsten. Was nearly gonna shove some Athlete Cured lyrics in me signature in tribute!"But on returning from his clerical job, Gertwould park his Volkswagen at the end of the daywilly-nilly in the driveway, usually the wrong way round,so that the exhaust fumes would flow upwards right throughthe open windows of the athletic star's upstairs bedroom.(carburettor)"Didn't tho.Residents then?Awesome shit mate.

Classic 1970's Northern Ireland newspaper headline, although I note that's the Daily Express, not the Belfast Telegraph. You must be posh!

In the same vein:

My first ever brand new car, a Rover Metro 1.1S from Mervyn Stewart, Belfast. The white Fester in the background got nicked from a Belfast car park and blown to bits in Chichester Street.

My Mark 4 Escort. Started life as a 1.3 Popular, gained XR3i alloys, spots and spoiler under my ownership. Mark 3 '3i interior (tipping front seats on a 4 door!). I painted the area below the rubbing strip Austin Rover Tornado (?) grey. 100W/120W bulbs=cracked headlamps. The ladies loved it.

My Dad, with his then brand new Mini 850. This car went on fire the same night a soldier from the Parachute Regiment came to our door in Newtownabbey and told my Mum to place the baby (me) in the airing cupboard as a bomb was about to go off accross the road (WWMC at Merville, binhoker). Note the Union Jack sticker on the back window - standard fitment at that time. After nearly 30 years, Rover started placing enamel Union Jack badges on again - there's one on my 25.

Since someone posted a pram in the Jersey thread, behold, my first ever set of wheels: 1 HHP (human horsepower)

My fastest ever set of wheels (and by fast I mean "OH MY GOD I'VE SOILED MYSELF!!!")

A Van Diemen RF 89 Formula Ford 1600 racing car. Note the trendy 80's-style specs from the pic of the blue Metro. Also note that I didn't have Marlboro or Nacional sponsorship - just a replica Ayrton Senna helmet.

I went to Carrick Grammar. Contrary to popular belief, we weren't all snobs - in my year we had a bloke who turned out to be a prolific armed robber, subsequently killed in Larne. He had some great autoshite in his time too, including a Lada estate with a Fiat 131 twin cam in it.

We've been infiltrated by Proddies! Funnily enough my uncle had a Royal Mail liveried Mini van in Leitrim, SID275, if only he could've transfered the plate! He had a Post Office Telecommunications Morris van which ended up as a chicken shed IID523. One very good thing about the troubles and my misspent youth in Fermanagh/Leitrim/Cavan was the cross border roads that were blown up and filled with old wrecks, many's the Perfect, Popular, Minx and Minor I nicked stuff off!
