Pillock
Camberley Pillock? Thats where my gf lives, its a haven for shite. Was the car on the Old Dean estate per chance? Not a nice place.....It was at a garage called BeetleLink, I had a rusty old Bug towed there for them to assess - they kindly "put it down" for me FOC when I realised how much it would cost to get on the road, but then for about a quarter of the price a 1303 turned up, elderly lady owner snuffed it so it hadn't run for ages. Local lady too, and the massive pack of receipts was all for local shops. We used to get sent to Camberley for training at the big Toshiba place, and I saw a few of the car places she used to go to. CIH
Carlton's a 1.8 manual - doesn't this provide a source of bits for a 16v conversion into other GM stuff? Be sad if it went that way though, I was pleased to see a Carlton estate last year, I think they look really classy.I'm going to have to get a Camry like that estate one day. Someone on the Datsun forum has a 71k V6 saloon in London for £200 which I'd love to get, but funds (or lack of) dictate otherwise.Yeah, same as the 1.8 Mantas. Use to really upset them to see mantas being squashed to provide a handful of bits for the likes of Mk2 Escorts lol. I quite liked the idea of 16v-ing a 1.8 Carlton when I was into GM.Agree with the Camry too. Nice looking motor that.

trigger
1981 Austin Maxi 1750 L This bloke is a right chancer, I posted this on here just after christmas when it sold for about £150, It was in Colchester near me with some crappy photos and had been under a tarp in a garden for years. This bloke has bought it, Took it to Hull, Wacked a ticket on it and now wants £995 BIN... The thing it's he's listed twice already and it's not met it's reserve, The first time it only got to £670, and it made £435 on Tuesday. Bet he wishes he took the £670 now. seth
Fair play to him I say. He spent a day dragging a potentially bad car quite some way home on either a truck or trailer. Then he got it through an MOT after some a period of inactivity. Might have had to repair a few things. Even at a grand I can't imagine he's making a massive amount of money on it. If he was asking "Doctor" money then he'd be a bit beyond the realms of sensibilty....

Tayne, "Doctor" money refers to the eBay seller "The Doctor" who finds amazing cars that are extremely well photographed, which frequently sell (deservedly) for prices around or above what guidebooks refer to as "Condition 1" money.
