shite_meister
The Billing Toyota show has been well covered by Hirst, Mash and Spottedlaurel but in the interest of continuity and modesty, I'll bang up a few of my faves that day. The resto work on this was excellent, as the owners were keen to show by the use of upskirt mirrors. Owners simply sat back in deckchairs and stared at people. Nice clean unmolested standard mini. Thanks girls, see you next year!WOW! some great pic there, I really like the BMW E12 M535i (very rare car now) and the Princesses, that Panther is rank. Bothe Minis very nice although it looks (from an anorak's point of view) that he's fitted the rear wheel arches to the front tut tut bloody anal concourse types. White Mini is lovely-really like that...as well as those lovely laydees. I was asked if I'd display my Mini in September, I hate the idea to be honest, quite different looking at other cars but not sure I want to spend eight hours bored out of my mind although I could go looking like this:

garethj
One the way back south, I got bored of the horrific queues on the M40 and decided to take a nosy around Silverstone as there was a lot of sports car traffic - Ferraris, Porsche etc. I saw this off the A43. That's a Tatra T97, not T87. It's got a flat 4 engine, not the V8
reallyloud
Cheers, Garath - I had a peek at the engine and should have done a little more research! I'll watch that Top Gear on Iplayer, I have a bit more time for James May, than the whole Top Gear product.
Gompo
This must be an early one as I am sure I remember them looking better than that! I believe they wer based on a Fiat Uno.
reallyloud
A few spots while roaming around. How much would something like this be worth? Been there for a week or so, presumably going to transport that expired Passat back to Poland. The car under the tarp *might* be a Jeep. I couldn't snap the Transit, as there is a childrens playground to the right and I'm not willing to take the unnecessary risk - I'll wait until some other time. Its been here and seemingly occupied for a few months now. Proper car for the job. Early column shift model. Not sure whats going to happen to this car, it was parked outside a recovery garage - I can forward details of the exact location if someone fancies a resque plan. brammy777
your spots are so good, keep up the good workNice camera you have too.Arent Cavs like that worth something like £500 on a good day? Depends on the spec though, does the red pinstripe indicate something on the one here?
reallyloud
Cheers brammy. The cav is a 1.8 LX model, I think a run out model before the mk3. Car belongs to one of my dads mates, he's had since the late 80's and might be persuaded to get rid. Not sure what I'd do with it though.... brammy777
its okay I love those cavaliers, i love all cavaliers.they remind me of my childhood, i used to see them everywhere. One of my favourite cars.It looks in good nick, so should be worth a fair bit more than the occasional 'L' models you see on the bay.slightly O/T, but does anyone else see loads of MKIII cavs everyday? I see at least 7 a day.

Vin
Another ground up resto job. Apparently this is a 1938 Sidney Smith Special. It was at the Bristol Italian car day and there is a bit of history and it's resto on this link http://www.topolino.org.uk/
mouseflakes
Early column shift model. Not sure whats going to happen to this car, it was parked outside a recovery garage - I can forward details of the exact location if someone fancies a resque plan.As always DC - a great photo. Same colour as my old one. I'm not sure they ever had a column change - but the early cars had the umbrella handbrake under the dash. This looks solid enough - rear arches just starting to go but not bad. Bonnet looks a bit crappy. I have too much on my plate - really sad to have to say 'no' to this. Spottedlaurel
IIRC they did an ‘i’ version of the LX Cavalier too?Sunny’s a run-out model too. Think I prefer the Spirit version to the Maxima they also did, but both were just a UK lash-up with extra bits. Ultimately I prefer my B11s in pre-facelift flavour. hammy
That is a Cav LXi, one of my favourite versions of the Mk2 Cavalier and rather thin on the ground now.I recall they did an Astra LXi estate as well towards the end of Mk2 Astra production. reallyloud
I suspect people have seen enough of the recent RR event, so I'll only post a few of the 500+ shots(!) I have to say I really enjoyed it and credit goes to the organisers for presenting a varied and diverse show. I'm ok with modded cars, and it was great to see cars with a bit of humour and imagination. Good to see a few friendly faces and meet some new ones too. Spottedlaurel
Marvellous pic's RL!Though it would have denied you that shot of the big American estate literally in the weeds, kind of a shame that the hosts of a big event like this can't whizz a mower around the field first.Seeing these pic's and by chance finding some I took at the museum years ago has reminded me it would be good to pop in when we're down that way next week. Shame I missed it by just one week...

reallyloud
As mentioned before the expected variation and locality (to me) made the Retro Rides show a no brainer for me to attend. I never got a chance to roam inside the museum but I plan to make a day of it soon. These are a few bit and pieces of non show cars I've seen over the last month or so. We'll start with some BL tin first. By co-incidence these happen to be run out models. I also saw a X reg maxi and R reg maestro, but wasn't quick enough to snap them. Even later Allegro on a Y - I'd imagine sharing a dealership with the then spanking new Maestro. I'd quite like to buy one of these - the novelty of standing up while driving or maybe selling ice cream has some appeal. Seem to be a few of these 11's knocking around. Boutique wheels! Midway through T-cut resto. Quite pleased to have seen this anonymous looking Nissan. The car would have been a massive improvement over the RWD generation which looked similar. Probabily the most inspired spot, typical old man driver but surprisingly without stickers, reflectors and all that crap older people tend to customise their cars with. These Uno's are on the endangered list, the government is to blame. Like early 309's, Volvo 3 series and R19's, Unos are still fairly common so I'm relectant to generally post them up on here. Won't be long before Tempras and Tipos start become the endangered. This is a shame, but hardly unexpected in this day and age. I would almost guarantee that nothing was stolen from this fragile looking Cortina. Top spec 1.5 Ibiza and seemingly well looked after. I rather like the look of these cleanly styled cars and find it amazing that no ones done a 'scene version' yet.
brammy777
Top spots as per there!I wish this level of tat was seen round where I live, sadly not it seems.Well done Picks for me are the Red Allegro Estate, the 5 and the metro disability wagon.
