Thanks for these pics dc. Fantastic place. I went there to see the 504 estate they were selling two or three years ago. I thought it was a great day out (the missus hated it though  ).

Wow what a tat hoard, I often wonder if cars sustain more minor damage in a museum than on the road though, especially when they're packed in so tightly. I'm pleased someone's stashed a Polonez away all this time!

Wow that is one ace museum, I really cant decide which one I like best - think its possibly the Polonez for its rarity (Cortinadaves valuation spot in for 93 - my mate bought an F-reg one in 94 for £10 to use aroud his dads yard when he was 14!), the Red Mk3 Escort or the Marina.

Nice to see this has survived - it was featured in Popular Classics back in 1994 and I always wondered if it survived.

After last weeks giddy and arousing excitement in which I doubt I'll ever recreate, I present you with a few cars of mild interest.

Posted Image

On its last legs I reckon. Have any of these been scened?

Posted Image

Quite a few knocking around, unfairly under-rated though.

Posted Image

This 2002 Tii would have been the range topper in its day, must be worth a few bob these days. Looks like the genuine article.

Posted Image

Seen at the back of a pub. Possibly the result of a misguided bar tab.

Posted Image

I think I've been seeing Yugos everywhere recently. Fortunately I managed to get this one on film. I can only assume this is one of the very last ones, as Yugoslavia would have been at war around the time this was registered.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Ultimate early 80's Council house car. This one is actually quite tastefully done, the blue hue reminds me of a humbrol colour.

Posted Image

Not seen one of these for ages, in perfect nick too. Its a 2.0 GLS which might well be the top of the range. The best a man can get.

That Prelude looks really rather nice, been ages since I've seen one.'Your' Nova saloon is a little worse for wear compared to the green one I spotted last week. Wasn't there a low, satin black one on RR a couple of years ago? Was at Santa Pod in 2006 IIRC.Edit: Seeing the plate on the Yugo reminds me of the reg'n on my old Manta, BJH160K, in turn makes me think of Barclay James Harvest which is what someone said once when they saw my car.

The home of one previous owner Japanese cars:

1973 Datsun 1200 B110 2dr; 1980 Laurel 2.4 C230; 1988 Sunny 1.6 LX N13
1992 Camry 2.2GL (definitely just for spares now); 1993 Camry Estate 2.2GL on the road again!!

And a couple of modern Toyotas

Quite correct, I looked for some pics, the most representative being this by DC!

Initially I thought this was a kit car.....its a Zagato bodied version of the Junior range. I have to say I prefer the original unmolested version.

Good spots, I forgot how much I liked the Type 3 VW on seeing that standard one. In the early 80's it was one of my favourite cars to spot as they were quite rare even by then.

Yeah its not far off is it? The Astray is PGW 317W, the metro isn't too far off. The Doovla states that the Vauxhall was registered on the 1st of June 1981, the Metro 3 weeks later. Interesting but proves NOTHING.

The Audi's reg made me chuckle too.

I came across this today:

And pretty much soiled myself. I'd seen the car around but the opportunity to snap it never occured. Luckily the elderly gentleman who owns it was present too, he's had for a long time - and used it to tour europe. Its tax exempt but has had a fair amount of filler and a can job. I think that rear hubcap is Morris minor sourced? Anyone confirm that? Its definately BL.

Despite the 1972 cars free road tax, I think my rusty but unmolested car is the better bet. Hopefully I'll get a snap of them together at some point. I now know that there are 4 Carina of this series (TA12) in this colour, one in Scotland, one was on ebay, the other 2 live down here in Hampshire 5 miles of each other. What are the chances?

:shock::shock::shock:

No way! Can't believe in this day and age there are still old guys running around in cars like this as their daily drive. It's 2008 FFS. Initially there were quite a few pre-72 cars in daily use and it was a bit of a novelty but I think people are generally less tolerant and prefer the creature comforts of a 90s shitter over saving a few quid each year!

I guess it's just the make do and mend mentality, aint-broke-why-replace-it kinda deal. I can see my folks getting that was in a few years... they seem competely oblivious to the fact that their car is now 16 years old and ergo more than double it's projected life expectancy. As long as it keeps rolling, doesn't cost much t fix/MoT every year, it makes sense. I'd be excited to see that Carina, even though I don't own a matching one. I still hold out some hope that if I badger enough, Mr_Bo1 will sell me his yella one.
