Salvage Yards

Anyone know of any traditional salvage yards?I used to use a couple - Mark Hill (cos it was at the end of my street) and Simpson up in York, who always had some weird tat in. They've both been taken over, by Trent and Copart respectively, who seem only interested in flogging parts.Where can I find an old-fashioned salvage yard for all my Cat C needs? :(

Cat C @ Autoline, Staffordshire Moorlands. Reasonably priced and very helpful.

Cat C @ Car Transplants, Winsford, Cheshire. Found the spares site at Nantwich to be fairly priced and helpful though they pissed a mate around a bit over a gearbox. Not been to the Winsford Cat C auction site so can't comment on that one.

Cat C @ WJ Furber, Whitchurch Shropshire. Large stocks but can be a bit pricey

Ooooh thanks guys. The moochy around ones are the ones I like the best, but since I'm starting to buy dogfood, clothes and beer online I might as well try online tat-buying too.I'm off to dream about things I'll get talked out of by SWMBO. Ta-ra!

Furbers salvage yard and their scrapyard both well worth of a visit. The salvage yard used to hold almost everything you an imagine: a visit about ten years back saw a Testerossa and some almost new Roller beeing sold for salvage and up at thw back on a ledge was an uber mint Wolsely 6. They also at one time had quite a few brand new Sierra bodyshells (3 door I think) and various other random new shells out the back. The salvage yard always seems to be full of Brummies glued to mobile phones by the way as they shout down them about the various cars then pull out huge cash deposits. The scrapyard is very hard to find, I think it's in a small village called Whixhall Moss and you have to go over a bridge (more a glorified piece of tin) over a canal, it's sort of between Whitchurch and Ellesmere down the back roads. It's a massive, massive place and they have engines etc from cars that are like 2 days old that have been totalled as well as loads of older stuff but not been in a while now.

Whixall used to be great before the fire, loads of stuff from the 1930's up to the 70's and not bad prices.Prees has always been a tad dear IMO but they get some strange stuff. Not been for years but they had a AC saloon and a W&P Mini on the left hand racking inside the building.
