GOLF GT TDI Gone now.....

Just arrived today, on my breif test drive it seemed all good, no issues with engine/ box etc, no warning lights on. Nice inside with all the buttons i tried working. Scabby bits a plenty as is to be expected from such a premium brand.......   WARNING !  might cause you to turn into a tediously dull Golf driver and start quoting mpg figures.  Plenty room in the glovebox to leave your personality before you exit the vehicle and mix with others...…

* Titlle edited for accuracy.

I have had this a matter of hours and already some VAG dick has wandered in and quoted some random code numbers and highlighted it is actually a 130 bhp..... his knowledge of VAG products clearly pleased him going by the smug grin he swaggered off with... so, sorry chaps, its a 130 bhp.

Yes, but you'd have only moaned about it being too far away

Fair point.

Thing is, at that end of the budget, you could spend the travel costs on just finding something closer to home.

Or do what I did and get something even cheaper and closer. Then somehow still have no money. God I'm shit with money! :D

That family of engines (apparently the 130pd “AWX” is the ultimate) was a high tide mark for VAG diesels IMO

AWX is on the Passats, this is likely ASZ *Takes VAG raincoat off*

Arguably the PD130's are more desirable than the PD150's anyway as they avoid the infamous 'chocolate cam' issue.

Either way this will make someone a cracking car, unfortunately I have no room or need for it otherwise I would have been genuinely interested.

^ Jesus, if you had the means to jump on a plane to get a car, surely to god it wouldnt be to get a scabby Golf..... hateful things.... oops, I'm selling it.....

I think travelling is worth it to buy a cheap car from a trusted shiter who tells you the car is shit or the things that are wrong with it.

Two of my mates had these as company cars and I was quite jealous at the time. They felt quite rapid and I assume still are as a relatively light car and of course were a bit posh being a VW...

I just checked flights to Aberdeen out of interest. About £200 one way from East Midlands.

It took me all the effort i could muster to travel accross the carpark to take pics of it.. the idea of jumping on a place to get it baffles me.  :)     I would like to add to the glowing reference that i would indeed tell of any thing i knew was wrong with it..  but thats not to say there arent things wrong with it that im not aware of.  / arse covered....

That's a good thing. Apparently the 130bhp is a stronger lump and turbo setup than the 150bhp.

We used to have a 51 plate 130 bhp Golf of this era. Aside from the bloody awful handling, it was a brilliant car.

But at least it makes up for the awful boaty handling for the ability to go over bumps without needing spinal surgery afterwards. Very unlike modern German cars.

I had a virtually identical 1.8T GTi one of these about twelve years ago. I had a headache with rear bushes for a bit. Both front window regulators went wonky. It was a bit of a lemon.

The car as a whole was decent though. Everyone slags off the Mk4 but think it was the first Golf with modern decent engines and a nice interior if a bit soft in quality.

This is a bargain.
