New cambelt and w/pump (in nick of time) for my Pigassole

Got the cambelt, tensioner and waterpump replaced today with a Gates kit - all fitted by a nice old-skool mobile mechanic here in Kent. He showed me the waterpump was leaking, so I'm just happy we caught that before it got worse.

Labour was £120 which didn't seem bad as the local independent garage wanted £180. He fitted the new idle control valve too - engine had been revving on its own at traffic lights making me sound like a greying boy racer...

All seems peachy now, but hope I'm not tempting fate.

Not a bad car once you get past the round eggy shape. And it's doing 36mpg around town so not too shabby.

Lovely, getting stuff like this sorted always feels good.

Timing belts are something I always farm out (Unless they're Fisher Price levels of simple like the 940) It's taken mew a while to do it, but once you get yourself out of the mindset that you have to do everything yourself life becomes more pleasant.

RE idle control valves, the last one of those I did was on a Mk5 Fiesta 1.3, inlet manifold had to come off to get to it, another one I wish I'd paid someone else to do.
