Shandylegs
Since parting with the old Mercedes through this very forum, I've been running the replacement Touareg daily to work and back. As it's a 50 mile round trip, I had been pondering if buying something small and cheap as a smoker could actually work out cheaper in the long run (Well that's what I told the Mrs, the reality being I just wanted to buy another car!) I started looking at Polos as ran a knackered one for a few month's and really liked it, then smart cars, which then escalated to certain knackered Volvo's from here! - I was very tempted just couldn't make the numbers work. Then the idea of a van hit me. I have never owned one before and thought it might be handy. Found a brilliant C15 van with a genuine 35k miles from new, but dithered about and of course it sold 10 minutes after - idiot - still kicking myself about that one now! Fast forward a day, I'm just in the process of moving units and what should be sitting in the corner of the new yard looking very unloved. Enquiries were made and I'm now the proud owner of a completely hanging Transit connect (Pics to follow). tommotech, Bazfr69 and Cavcraft

sutty2006
I couldnt even drive a works van like that, let alone my own motor. It’d be very therapeutical to clean that, I digress The Old Bloke Next Door and eddyramrod

Shandylegs
Story is that a plastering company replaced all three of their vans, but kept this one behind for emergencies. It's sat for the last 12-18 months, hence the mould etc.. It's actually remarkably straight, even having all four bumper ends intact, engine also sounds really strong. Will require a small patch at the back of the NS sill, but other than that, all seems well. It's also coming to me with 12 months test. I did offer to take it as is but the difference in price given by the seller 'tested' and 'as is' was only £50 - No brainer as far as I'm concerned (but would have liked to see the tester's face when this is presented). Should be with me by the end of the week, then the clean up can commence....... Burnside, eddyramrod and JeeExEll
Timewaster
A pressure washer and a Vax on those seats would double the value of what looks like a reasonable van. eddyramrod and N Dentressangle

Cavcraft
That's brilliant. That level of minging should be seen as a badge of honour and a really satisfying way of spending a few hours cleaning it.
N Dentressangle
That'll clean up nicely. Just watch out for speed limits - some Connects have lower limits on A rds and duals, as they're not seen as a 'car derived van'. It's a really crap bit of law, and probably made when plasterers turned up in a Standard Atlas or one of those wobbly looking Commer things that BT used to have millions of, but worth a read around before you get a ticket. beko1987
Most of that will hose out. Remove the seats and it's just acres of plastic! Tap up your local Autosmart rep for 5l of G101 and a sprayer, then get a fuck ton of cheap microfibres from amazon, a few detailing brushes and a wet vac and go to town, get the interior swimming in the filth! And post loads of pics obv! If your local to thame I can book a day or two off work with 2 weeks notice... purplebargeken

Asimo
I bought a really clean one 5 years ago. Removed and binned the plastic mat as it was wet underneath, caused by leaking around the plastic plugs in the roof rack holes.Speed limit is done on weight, mine is in the slow bracket by just a few kilos! Iamgroot
Vans are awesome, transits are the most awesome (and incredibly rusty), I have had a couple of connects in the past and the earlier one (53 plate) was actually a much better van to drive than it's replacement. Crooner
My Escort van was easily as bad as that when I got it a few months back. Literally tipped buckets of hot water with flash liquid on the seats and sucked it out with a wet carpet cleaner. The rest is just hard plastic. Vanish hard soap and a nail brush sorts anything. Satisfaction guaranteed.

Shandylegs
Beko / Bigcarcolourken - Thanks for the offer of help, though I suspect Barnsley may be a little out of your way! I do have a favour owed by someone who does nothing but clean vans for a living so may yet chicken out and take the easy route. Hopefully it will be with me by the weekend so I can give it a good look over.... purplebargeken
D Spares & Tyres
Ewww reisty! I use TFR and a jetwash. Unbolt the seats, take the carpet out. Spray with TFR and between the lot until the water runs clear.
