purplebargeken
Anyone fancy a day in North London fettling a small 1300 Dolomite? Needs a service, choke cable fitting, rad filling and rear brakes taking apart and cleaning. Good kebabs available locally! Fluids provided! Fuzzy head preventing actual doing of things. Plus additional Toledo fettling if desired. Needs a 12v socket fitting and rerouting the overdrive switch so it fits under the dash, need advice on a switch and a tell tale light. Anyone fancy it who is electrically savvy? Ghosty, tooSavvy and LightBulbFun

purplebargeken
I sauntered over to the garage this morning and poured coolant and petrol into the appropriate orifices. The coolant stayed put. The petrol didn't. Luckily I managed to lob the just emptied pez can under the car to catch the dripping petrol. Problem? Just the rubber petrol hose that goes from the tank outlet to the rigid line. I should have anticipated it but that is the first one of ever that has leaked. I have a suitable length of hose so no biggie. I will wait until the tank has drained, jack the back end up and replace the hose. That'll be a job for Saturday. It makes sense to replace the other bits of petrol hose, just in case. I have a new filter to fit too. I might just get a couple of metres of hose anyway, it's always handy to have. Whilst the thing was draining I lobbed a battery on. The car turned over really nicely, it didn't start though, no petrol getting to it I suppose. Plus the battery was a little fatigued. The headlights work, the side lights work, the clocks illuminate. The wipers also work. The indicators won't work as the rears are disconnected. Even the radio works! So despite the petrol incontinence, it's all okay. I have a new battery coming soon anyhow. purplebargeken
I managed to have a proper look under the Dolomite this morning with a view to replacing the leaking rubber fuel line. Oh dear. It utterly fucking fucked mate. The rust was rather remarkable, in a stomach sinking sad way. It's beyond any real economic repair really. It's quite the mess. Seems the salty Anglesey air was crueller than I imagined. So. She will be stripped bare over the next few weeks, helpful that I will have retired eh? She will yield some useful bits for the Toledo. The front end is virtually mint. The headlights are good, wheels are sound as spares if needed. Interior is nice too. Doors will be stripped and kept if viable. Glass too. Different engine and gearbox to the Toledo though, however, seeing as another green Triumph owning shitter needs an engine, he can have this FOC, obv in London and will need removing but the offer is there. Some you win, some you lose. somewhatfoolish

Tamworthbay
Retirement prezzie from your workmates? And my old one was sound in all the key places. And I filled it with can after can of Dynax so once the little repair on the sill is done it should last many years. purplebargeken

Wingz123
Ken do you want me to see if I can get the welding sorted for you? Tamworthbay and purplebargeken
purplebargeken
It's utterly fooked, it really is. The sills are worse than I thought, the remains of the support membrane were dropping out in crumbs from the cover sill/body gaps. The rear end is toast. I've taken the dosh for it and will be taking bits off for the Tolly, so I will break even which is okay. Utter shame but it really is in much poorer than I had thought. I've only just been able to have a proper look underneath. If it was in any way viable then it would stay but it isn't. Sad but no other realistic choice, at least it will help other Toledo's and Dollies live on. Thanks for the welding offers guys, really appreciate that somewhatfoolish and Tamworthbay
