320touring
Bored whilst having dinner, I stumbled upon a decent thread on Piston heads (yes, the lottery ticket is already on).. One of the facts* stated was the following :(Read Reliant for Scimitar) Consultation with a tame* Aerodeck owner (Skizzer) came back as "MR BOLLOX BIG HORSEY BAWSAC" though no repudiating evidence was provided.. Anyone able to weigh in with irrefutable evidence one way or the other?
Rocket88
Irrefutable..no.....highly unlikely.....yup. I'm sure Mr Honda was well aware of the Scimitar, and were perfectly capable of doing what the Japanese do brilliantly.......vaguelly copy something, but build it very well.... garethj
If something isn’t true, it’s almost impossible to prove. But I’d say that story is bollocks
Split_Pin
Mr Hub Nut of this Borough has noted that the Matiz was indeed for Fiat but intended as a 500 proposal. I'm trying to imagine wht engine/drivetrain the Aerodeck may have featured, had the styling been used by Scimitar....
Skizzer
Various not particularly reliable internet sources have the third generation Accord styled by Toshi Oshika, a Honda fellow. They don’t single out the Aerodeck either way though. Setright would know. (‘Tame’ indeed. Hmph.) chaseracer and 320touring
Eddie Honda
The Matiz was some Italian design hammered narrower to fit the Matiz floorpan. That's why it looks RONG ETA. Checked and it was Ital. https://www.italdesign.it/project/lucciola/ https://www.italdesign.it/project/matiz/ Mrs6C
Mrcento
Matiz one is 100% true. (as posted above). I remember the concept images for it appearing with Fiat badges in mid 90's car mags. It also vaguely fitted the Fiat future styling language of the time (The Multipla was in the works at roughly the same stage, maybe a year after). If you shrunk down a multipla to Cinquecento size, round headlights and a big fold back roof as a nod to the classic Fiat 500, you'd pretty much end up with exactly the concept that was pitched to Fiat by Italdesign (as picced above and here) But it was much cheaper to just repackage the Cinq into the Sei. Daewoo took the design, hacked it up a bit and the Matiz was born. Cavcraft, barmatt, Eddie Honda and 2 others

DavidB
Replace 'front door' with 'facebook marketplace' and 'magically' for 'tragically', and Cavcraft will definitely confirm that.
