The Old Bloke Next Door
Probably not any potential buyers on here but you never know. Late 2a, first registered October 1968, mot expires September 30th. 2.5 turbo diesel with original oil cooler which has run less than 60000 miles, 3.5 diffs, cruises at 60 with power in reserve, matching set of Michelins on lwb rims,. Owned 18 years and maintained to a very high standard. Chassis, bulkhead and all running gear sound, parabolic springs, extended shackles, recent Varta battery, needs no work to put into immediate use. Cosmetically presentable outside although it has been brush painted. Inside would benefit from some up grading, but is all functional. Every thing electrical is in full working order. Not a show truck and not entirely standard, but ready to go anywhere . This vehicle belongs to a friend of mine who has no access to the internet. The only reason it is for sale is because a project he has rebuilding in his spare time for many years is almost ready for use. £5000 Any interest, questions pm me and I'll do my best to answer or put you in touch with the owner. More pictures later tonight. HillmanImp, Exiled_Tat_Gatherer, Stevebrookman and 9 others

Is that a tdi or the 19j? The latter might be a tough sell at that price. The Old Bloke Next Door

Its the much maligned 19j, take your point, however this engine has been in the truck since 2007. Its been totally reliable and well maintained and also has always run with the correct oil cooler fitted.I've borrowed this several times over the years and drove it again today, drives and brakes in a straight line, light steering for a Series and bonus good heater. Dick Longbridge
Looks a really decent one. Just one detail though - the best thing about the looks of 2a are the inset headlamps - those s3 front wings need sacking off and headlamps need reinstatement! drum
Looks a really decent one. Just one detail though - the best thing about the looks of 2a are the inset headlamps - those s3 front wings need sacking off and headlamps need reinstatement![rivet counter]They are S3 wings (heater intake) but the lights are in the correct place for a late 2A like this one. It's the front panel that's wrong, being off an earlier 2A.Homemade sills too and S3 door hinges and door tops, so probably S3 doors. A modification has been done to the top of the dash too and it has the wrong engine. Otherwise, it's very nice! [/rivet counter]Nobody in the S2 club will buy it cos it's a 'bitsa' but a normal person might. The Old Bloke Next Door
Thanks for all the comments. The original front panel was rotten at the bottom and fitted with a series 3 plastic grill. I supplied this one as I didn't have the correct late 2a panel and Maltese Cross wire grill. https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Land-Rover-Series-2-2a-Grill/1460075708?iid=273672171542&chn=ps The correct Smiths flat heater has been replaced with a series 3, hence the air intake on the passenger side wing. The sills are home made rock sliders, he used to off road it frequently for years. I've driven it around Coney Green and it is a very capable machine. Your'e correct about the Series 2 club, I once had a bloke come to view a hard top on a 109 2a I had for sale. He told me it was from a series 3 as the rivets were in a different position to a 2a. richardthestag
Exiled_Tat_Gatherer
I typed out a load of waffle about support, ott fanatics and not getting it...….. but it's all been said before. What i've never said before is - I'd roll in that series 2a...………. it just looks right to me. No rivet counters involved so no qualms about using it as it should be. I really like it! The Old Bloke Next Door
