Meter rat
As the van has now been dragged out of semi hibernation, I suppose now is a good time to introduce it. Again not many photographs of him being worked on as most of it has been done prior to joining this site. And again I never thought too, as after all who wants to see people messing with oily things? The back ground is I brought the car in France with out telling my now wife, and drove it home. That was 17 years ago. She has now forgiven me I think. We ran it on french plates until the CT, control technique ran out and then registered it in the UK at the local office. After MOTing it. There used to be two women in there, one the computer says no type, and a really helpful one. Plus others. I got the first one. Bitch. Went back the next day, with exactly the same paper work, and saw the really helpful one. 10 minutes later I was walking out with a new age related registration and tax. It has proved fairly reliable and has been all over the country, on 2cv events and holidays, often towing a trailer tent. We fitted the back out as a micro camper, which is roomy for one, and a bit of a squeeze for two. It has had the engine and gear box rebuilt, but has never been restored. It was wafted over in France, and has had plastic front wings fitted. It does need a bit of work doing this year as it has a couple of holes in the floor, but they have been there for the last four years, so I’m not to bothered. A few other bits need replacement, and it needs a good clean. That’s it, not much else to say really . paulplom
I love the quirky position of the radio. That must be fun looking for radio6music while doing 90 on the autobahn.
Jim Bell
That's class. Nobody can accuse the Speedo of a lack of optimism. Supernaut
Meter rat
The Speedo is not that optimistic, it’s in Kmh. Flat out with a tail wind and a hill, it’ll do 120kmh so about 70mph. A good cruising speed is 100kmh. These vans never had a radio, even when new. They have no form of lining at all and they are bare metal. That was built by myself to make it a bit more “luxurious”. It also stops condensation dripping on you. They do leak from the windscreen and from the vent. A lot of people put radios under the parcel shelf, where they fill up with water. adw1977
