whitevanman
The Sierra Saphire pased her MOT, with a tweak of the headlights and resetting the emissions did you know that the only option the station can select is "Sierra CVH engine"...........and its the full emmision test for vehicles with a cat that it runs...even though Sierras never had cats fitted.......... still I'm happy for a change
CortinaDave
Good news.. the seatbelt behaved itself then?very very late sierra's do have cats.. attached to a crappy single point injection system. the compulsory cat legislation came in right at the tail end of sierra production so they cobbled together a half - arsed system to sell the last few in
r.welfare
Yeah, the very late 1600's (CFI?) were cat-equipped. Ford were able to shift all their stocks of the 1600 Pintos (without cats) via the Azura special edition, which was supacheap (£9k?) to guarantee they'd all go quickly...Anyway, great result - always nice to have a simple pass, innit? CortinaDave
back in about 2000 I had a K reg 1.8 i LX with a cat fitted. bought it for a then-unbelievable £150 because the owner couldnt get it to run properly. It would get up to around 50mph then just lose power and bang and fart its way back down to 30.Got my mate to fiddle about to try and fix it, no joy.. then it was suggested to me that it might be the lambda sensor. Because they are so rare the only place that would sell me one was Ford who wanted £ludicrous which i couldnt afford.Ended up driving round side streets in the middle of the night till I found a cat equipped 1800 (identified by the iLX badge) jacked it up and stole his sensor clean out of the exhaust.I hasten to add that I would NEVER do something like that now! Poor bloke's car would have sounded like a tank next day when he started it up..It didnt fix my car either, ended up running it through Kinross market and getting about £200 for it. K478 XOM.. wonder if it ever did get sorted?
