mk1_4dr
After having a real mare last time we took escort on a long journey, and with and upcoming trek down south for RRG09, we decided to have a run over to Hebden Bridge for the vintage rally weekend. Thankfully we had a near faultless ride over, with a steady and reasonably quiet 65 on the m62 (I just need to sort a little pinking under heavy load then we’re looking good for the drive down south )When we hit the village of Friendly (ya, rly) we started seeing some vintage trucks coming the other way – obviously some sort of club day out, and we ended up in convoy with a little rubber-bumpered orange MG midget. Unfortunately, we had chosen the wrong day, Saturday was ‘classic’ (post ’67) , yesterday was ‘vintage’.Still, for our £12 donation we had a grand time and the quality of the metal on display was something else, its just a shame that it was so busy and at such close quarters that getting decent pics wasn’t really happening for me.After a little while, we had a wonder down the canal to grab some pub grub, and had a walk back into town grabbing what spots I could. Sweet Sprite Old Velox had patina That Lincoln, again. Detailed pre-crossflow Can you tell what it is yet? Gorgeous Caddy, off white really suits it Real classics Detail shots, trying to cut out the crowds Spotted this down a side street on our way for food This was the view while we ate out tea, no boats passed though And from the other side on the way back I spotted the top of the cab over a 7foot wall, in a little yard at the side of the river. I gave Janie the camera and a piggyback to get this shot for you The yard with the truck in is just on the left of this pic Period looking Esprit showing its twin-carbed guts to the world. Long distance T2 pitstop Rolling resto DS ‘Pallas’ was tidy apart from the doors And when we got back to the car, this was occupying the space beside us. Brave man leaving the roof down with the impending clouds that punctuated the day And that’s your lot, hope you enjoy
retrogeezer
Great photos... This is a (gorgeous) very early esprit as it has no air intakes behind the rear windows:

Mr_Bo11ox
That wedge went through a phase of appearing on ebay every few weeks in about 2004, I remember it! It was a proper minter then, still looks tidy now.
mk1_4dr
Cheers for that Micheal, I had thourght about doing a DVLA check but I assumed that it had been parked up for so long there was no way it would be on the system.I wasn't sure what it was, Janies dad was an apprentice truck tech in the early 60's and even he didn't know what it was.
