Got my spacers sorted and went for a little drive. Slight rub on hard cornering, suspect loose bumper trim as only one direction.

Petrol station shot, as it was dark. I think it looks a bit over-wheeled, should have gone for 15"s.

Have to mention that the tyres rub on the rear arches when fully loaded, I would remedy this, but wouldn't be the tidiest job, so will leave for now.

As a side point, as it looks like I'll be keeping this (maybe I paid too much for it in the first place), I'd be interested in a wheel swap if anyone has anything 4 x 100 in 15" or 14"

These are 16" and have winter tyres on!

What size tyres are they? On these anything above 24 inches wheel diameter will rub. They're really meant for piddly tyres.

Yeah something more fitting would be 195/45R16. Mine's on 195/50R15 and even that will rub sometimes.

Doesn't look likely to sell, so going to have to admit defeat I think.

I've said it before, but I think this car just doesn't have enough character to appeal to AS members, is 'too old' for the general public and is too boring for the retro scene.

I can think of worse cars to be stuck with though :D

These old Toyotas are an acquired taste I think... It was an absolute bargain, if there was any way I could justify it (I really should be decreasing the fleet...), I'd have snapped it up! If we were closer than either end of the country it would've helped too!

Good luck with it, like you say, there are worse things to be stuck with! I'll look forward to your updates with it anyway, it's a great old car, and I for one love the wheels!

At the end of the day you can sell (almost) anything if the price is right and you're prepared to wait for the right buyer. Trouble is, on here recently there's been a lot of very cheap and interesting cars coming up for sale.

Keep it. Run it in to the ground. See how long you can make it last!

As an experiment, and to compensate for having bought the wrong size wheels, I'm going to try some some of those spring helpers on the back to stop it catching. Will report back my findings...

I really like these. They're in a strange place in the market though where they're worth a lot for what they are (see also 4th gen Civics and Accords where the going rate for a good one is £1500+), and struggle to sell sometimes as a result, particularly on AS. They're also quite hard to get hold of rot free.

I think the horrendous colour doesn't help.

I'm seriously considering giving it a spray in something to at least even up the mismatched panels.

I think it is an ace car, nice inside and I actually like the colour.  You know it's a decent, solid and reliable enough thing. Keep it, enjoy it until the summer then review.
