Over here it's an Ypsilon.

How do you say that.....silent Y & silent P? Mind you then it would sound like a coconut based curry dish (a rather hot one)

Yesterday I searched for and found the Florian, it has a few issues though... left rear wheelarch, tops of front wings (I guess where the mirrors were suposed to go), big hole in the front valance (well, the bit under the bumper), but fairly straight looking apart from the colour differences, and a nice interior. I've left a note so here's hoping... pics until the batteries went:

I'm trying to think of other ways to find out who owns it, it's sitting on a parking lot on an industrial estate so not much use knocking on doors... I've left my phone number and email in a weatherproof note, but I doubt the owner ever looks at the car. Frustrating. Might have to make something up so the authorities will help me find him.

Good idea. Can't you pretend that it ran you over in a hit-and-run incident? Obviously you'll need to limp a bit to make it convincing. It'd be worth it.Great selection of stuff, love the early-of-its-type Corolla (KE20?) too.3dr Escort 1.6L with chrome strips is an odd spec, definitely didn;t get them here. Also, behind the Renault 5 there's what appears to be a 2dr Jetta with Golf front - did they sell it as Golf saloon or Jetta 2dr?

The home of one previous owner Japanese cars:

1973 Datsun 1200 B110 2dr; 1980 Laurel 2.4 C230; 1988 Sunny 1.6 LX N13
1992 Camry 2.2GL (definitely just for spares now); 1993 Camry Estate 2.2GL on the road again!!

And a couple of modern Toyotas

That's what my hawk eyes spotted too - interesting contradiction to the 'scene' thing to do over here which is to put square Jetta headlamps on your Golf, a lá G60!

It's the only reason I take pics of Lancers... well almost. The 2-door thing is a Jetta, and the Corolla's a KE20 indeed, looks pretty bad.I might be able to pretend I've hit the Florian, but the other way round... dunno, not very believable. Maybe I'll have to report witnessing an attempt to steal it and end up in jail myself...

In the Uk we can persuade DVLA to tell us ownership details if we can convince them its on our land -or blocking the drive etc. Pics usually do the job...Dont do anything silly -although I MIGHT be tempted to pop over with a dolly very late one winters night.'Corse -I'd need to know exactly where it was first...

What beauties! Hope Mr bickle can get behind the wheel of that Florian; good luck to you both with that project.

Interesting that 2 vehicles, including the Land Rover had CH plates, but Dutch registrations. Were they really (once) Swiss?

Particularly liked the pristine Scimitar. This one's near here, but tragically beyond redemption:

'

This is a great thread you've got yourself Michiel. Brilliant spotting.
I've just had a proper read through the lot, and it strikes me that I'm now more familiar with the shite spotted than the moderns in the background - that's a first for me! Could be...
(1) because I've been in Asia for too long
(2) because I'm starting to get old
(3) I'm finding shite much more interesting these days
(4) all of the above.

This one caught my eye:

Posted Image

That's one of them new-fangled 500 replica things, right?
I've not seen one myself yet, but-omg-LOOK^ how it dwarfs the poor old 2002! Is it an optical illusion??

All that old French stuff is amazing! All of it!
You seem to have more than your fair share of these:

Posted Image

What's with the dual action back plates??
And they all seem to have roll cages in the boot!! What's that about?

Look closely at this: (From the side of an earlier dub bus)

Posted Image

Does that say "AUTOSHITE van" in Dutch?

This one's an amazing find:

Posted Image

I've never seen one of those, but it looks related to this Chiang Mai spot:

Posted Image

And perhaps even this Isuzu on the left:

Posted Image

This was inside:

Posted Image

And that to me looks similar to the Florian dash:

Posted Image

There are still quite a lot of these pickups earning their living in these parts, so some spares are obviously still available.

Great work indeed - keep it up.
Finally, perfect timing on your 626 shot:

Quality.

What's with the dual action back plates??

The tailgate splits into 2, so when Monsieur carts his stuff to le dump he can keep the lower half of the tailgate open and still allow the top hinged plate to be seen. I think early BL minis had the same.

Why thank you, and I could and should spot so much more if I ever left my own neighbourhood… I've started to dislike modern cars (say post-1990) so much in the past years that I don't keep up with them and sometimes don't even see them anymore - way back when I knew what every car was and 'registered' and named them all as I saw them on the roads, nowadays it's car-car-car-Mazda 323-car-car-1988 Passat-car-car etc. It's a lot quieter in my head now!-That 500 may look bigger than it is due to the angle, but well, modern cars are very lardy: the latest Golf is almost 60 cm. longer than the first, and I think a modern regular Civic is much bigger than the original 'extra spacious' Shuttle… -DS Breaks are quite popular and effing expensive as a result. The dual plates have to do with the ways you can use the boot I guess, so you always have a plate on display? Never even saw the cage thing before, so I haven't got a clue… Wuvvum maybe?-Sorry, that's Autoschade (literally car damage - used to be a bodyshop van)-The Florian was found by Stoterstangen90 before me, it is related to those Chevy LUV and Isuzu pickups, I read yesterday that quite a few of those have been converted to smallblock V8's in the US so the Florian could also be converted without too many problems ;-)The relationship might make fixing the front a little easier too, indeed!'Finally, perfect timing on your 626 shot'Damn, I waited for ages so I could have an otherwise empty shot and still those pesky old people get in the way! That part of town is full of them, it's a plague I say!
