FWD too with gearbox in front of the engine

 

 

Bedford Pickup with 2.6 six-cylinder engine. Engine looked vast and probably weighed about the same as the moon.

 

 

Unsafe at any speed etc etc Corvair. I'd seen this about before too.

Sadly I cannot claim the Prefect although it may prove too shiny for me!   Healey is a 100S (or an evocation of same) - a rare lightweight special (S for Sebring) four pot with Weslake head.   From memory, I believe this particular one is actually genuine.

Yes it was good to meet you all. Nice to put faces to names and I met lots of old friends too. It seems everybody goes there now. I like the way it has now taken over the whole town centre and the outlying car parks are worth a tour. And The Hundred (the main street with all the shops in) has a constant stream of old and noisy cars as the latecomers do laps looking for somewhere to park.

 

First, two eye bleedingly bright Leyland cars. The Mini is immaculate Sandglow, I don't know what colour the Marina is but it was utterly mesmerising. You wouldn't need DRLs with this, the paint is brighter than any lights, bearing in mind this was a very dull overcast day.

Needs bigger supercharger. Are you actually able to see anything out the front when you've chopped the roof and have a S/C this big out the bonnet? Does it matter because I think ti looks awesome.

Was good to meet Mercrocker, Yoss & Lisbon_Road again and also nice to meet Terry who's forum name I can't remember but who spotted us and we chatted AS for a bit. Its a really good event and well worth a visit if its still there next year. Loads of cars come and go, even during the ~2 hours i was there I reckon 30% of the cars changed. There must have been a good few thousand people too and hopefully they raised a good bit of money too.

A good event.  I was fascinated by the BSA sportscar, which seems to be about 1938.

Regards the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang replica pictured many posts back. It was on the One Show last week. It's based on a Land Rover chassis which may explain the rather clunky wheels. It may be tricky to fit slim wire wheels to Land Rover hubs. It is though entirely the work of one man, scratch built so it's still pretty impressive.

Ah, that explains it, I wondered if it was another Beaulieu car let out to play but clearly not.

 

Its a lovely car, just seemed a bit odd given the craftsmanship gone into the rest of the car that the wheels seemed to be modern steels with the cardboard bases you get on cheap frozen pizzas glued on!

 

@Hairnet - the G-K was gorgeous, I initially thought it was a 1960s Ferrari as i approached from the side, but then heard someone say it was a Gordon Keeble. I also didn't know they were made just down the road in Eastleigh. today was interesting and imformative!

Thanks to everyone who posted pics, looks like a great turnout. Delighted to see that blue 6/110 again, saw it and lusted after it at a show about fifteen years ago and never seen it since.

Looked a good show, gutted I missed it,

 

Having fought to free a stuck clutch, I made it as far as the A3M before the brakes seized on.

 

 

Spent the rest of the morning freeing them off. Not a pretty sight, proper brake overhaul will be done soon as time allows.

Looks  a great event, thanks to all who posted pictures. The cycle winged MG is probably an early post-war TC and the short estate car is actually a Commer Cob van converted into an estate, although it looks like the factory Hillman Husky version.

That blue Lotus is an Elan+2. Longer than an Elan because it has rear seats. A much nicer looking car than it's little brother Imho.

 

It's not a Maxi but a Wolseley 1800 or 2200 "landcrab"

 

Looks like a good show. Interesting seeing the cars around town than in a field.
