gadgetgricey
Well as some may know I was the lucky winner of the V6 giffer Mondeo as per : http://autoshite.com/topic/33755-mission-accomplished-mondeo-in-midlandland/page-1 Already purchased spark plugs, and made inquiries for leads and a coil pack, but already hit the first hurdle. Plugged my generic code reader into the OBDII port and nothing.Used it the other day on the wife's focus, so know it works, but no power in the Mondy. Done a quick search and some results say that the early Mondeo's were not OBDII compliant. Anyone know if that is correct, and then if there is a "cheap" code reader that will work. clayts450 and Supernaut
egg
Must be OBDII compliant, everything after 96 is. Only early Mk1's like mine aren't. bangernomics
mrbenn
I'm sure I used my basic OBDII scanner on a mate's 51 plate Mondeo same shape as this so this one should be fine.
sierraman
They are compliant. Used them loads of times.
gadgetgricey
It mentions about a fuse which I will check, but then some early 03 cars not being compliant. https://talkford.com/community/topic/205497-no-power-to-diagnostic-port/ Will report back.. egg
Ah ok, Well I have a Ford specific OBDII connector I can post to you if you get the software?
mrbenn
Think that refers to diesel models, which only had to be OBD compliant from 2004 onwards from memory. https://www.scantool-direct.co.uk/fault-code-readers-which-one.html egg

egg
Cool, just PM me when you're ready, I don't have an OBDII compliant car at the mo, so it is just sitting here.
Ohdearme
Fuse 26 or some other is linked to the radio. It is almost guaranteed I zazzed a fuse attempting to persuade* the radio out with mole grips, radio pins, a screwdriver in the slot and not enough hands... That’s why the delay on the dials waking up. Might be part of the odb diagnostic check too? I meant to scoop a handful of blade fuses up from my Alfa spares piles but forgot. Good luck and hoping for an easy fix! mrbenn
Rave
My cheapo OBDII bluetooth scanner works fine on my 2005 3.0 V6. It got the car through its last MOT no bother as I stood at the entrance to the MOT station spamming "delete fault codes" on Torque Lite. Bugger replacing a post-cat Lambda when the car runs fine. Mine needed a replacement coil pack a few years ago, 70 quid from CP4L and probably the easiest job I've ever done on a car, though I don't know if the 2.5 is the same. When I got the old one off there was an obvious big split in the case, explaining the serious misfire whenever it rained heavily. Isaac Hunt
The V6 2.0 and 2.5 in the x-Types on a 51 and 02 plate are OBD Compliant and work on my Autel unit. This Mundano has the same PowerPoint IIRC. Worth checking the upstream Lambda Sensors. On the x-type (cue it is a Mondeo with Jag badges type quips) as the heater circuit goes in them and they throw the MIL.
Ohdearme
I am dismay that the deterioration of the MDFSH giffer in my 1200 miles of ownership have warranted the fated ‘Project’ status:) mrbenn and gadgetgricey
