DodgyBastard
I could A-frame it back to my garage, get it up on a ramp and get a good look at what's required to keep it on the road. Any idea where in Edinburgh it is? loserone, Braddon81, Scruffy Bodger and 10 others

Popular Post DodgyBastard
So, I went back a little bit more prepared than earlier and brought a suitable tow vehicle and A-frame just in case. I had a quick blast along the street and it seemed to drive ok so just continued driving until I got back to the unit... RJC_5791 by srblythe, on Flickr It drives and handles well, the brakes seem ok but the pedal travel is quite long. The clutch slips quite badly, it's recently had the clutch cable replaced so perhaps it needs adjusted? I stuck it on the ramp... RJC_5780 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_5781 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_5782 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_5783 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_5784 by srblythe, on Flickr The outer sills look quite bad but I think the inner sills are ok, the floors are good and it's generally soilid underneath. RJC_5786 by srblythe, on Flickr There's a couple of bits under the front wing that will need sorted but with the wing off it'll be easy enough to sort. RJC_5787 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_5788 by srblythe, on Flickr I am pretty optimistic that I can get it finished by next weekend but I'll just have to see how it goes. The owner did seem quite attached to it so I said I would get it roadworthy and give him first refusal when time came to move it on. He still has the logbook. I think he was sad to see it leave him but happy that it was going to be saved so I don't really want to let him down. worldofceri, HarmonicCheeseburger, adw1977 and 66 others

SiC
When you have a car for a long time it becomes faithfully familiar. Best analogy I can think of is having a family dog. Great fun to play with when you first have them. Middle age they become a bit more laid back and less excitable. Then as they get older they start having more and more problems. Having them put down is not simply an option as you love them so much.

solid61
Don't look too bad to me,bear in mind it's a 35 year old car made out of quite thin steel with its roof cut off living in Scotland it's done very well,a big mot failure can sometimes be not much at all, just needs a sensible second opinion and it looks like it's in the right hands, well done Mr foad. alcyonecorporation, oldcars and egg
