aldo135
Congrats Aldo, that looks a nice steer. Hope you can get down to get it, I've been to Folkestone with an old job before and the train from St Pancras was very quick indeed. Thanks Mr Hedgehog, getting the overnight bus then this train looks my best* option
davehedgehog31
Thanks Mr Hedgehog, getting the overnight bus then this train looks my best* optionSounds similar to my trip for the Rover, it was OK but would recommend booking a Travel Tavern overnight on the way home. You'll be very comfy at least. Had it been closer I'd have offered conveyance, but Folkestone is stretching it! aldo135

I picked up a car in Essex a few years ago using the Megabus sleeper but that's no longer on the go. My mum lives in Lincolnshire could possibly stop over there, will see how it goes... CortinaDave
whats the old rhyme? 30 days hath september, april june and november.... all the rest have 31 except January which has 96. Id love to make an insulting offer on this but Im just about as far away as you and Folkestone looks a proper sod to get to. That said, if id won Id have made it happen! even if it costs you a couple of hundred there and back its still a super cheap car and the trip gives you stories to tell aldo135
aldo135
You're right Dave I've not had a miles away collection for a while! Will get my finger out and sort this one way or another loserone, CortinaDave and The Moog
SierraMikeHotel
I'd love a go in it, willing to pick it up and do the first stretch of a relay if we can organise that? davehedgehog31 and aldo135
aldo135
There has been movement on this, not sure if it will need help shifting. Will let you know, thanks for the offer though! SierraMikeHotel and Tickman
Ohdearme
I’d be happy to oblige a stint from Leeds towards Durham, subject to dates or bus fare home. Last Xantia I drove lost 5th on the motorway, then seized in fourth. Gently* persuading it out of gear on the hard shoulder in the hope I could do Northampton to Staines in third resulted in a loud pop/clonk noise and a very floppy shifter. Still, what are the chances it would happen again? aldo135

aldo135
Sorry for being a dropout but this car has found a new owner, a Citroen nut who will give it better care than I ever could. I'm sure he will unveil himself soon enough. I will use the money raised to get my poorly 740 back on the road, it's been too long! Thanks for the positive messages and offers of shifting it closer to me! Jerzy Woking, holbeck, Ohdearme and 1 other

Matty
Where are you? What about a relay? It'd make a mint collection thread and we seem to be evenly scattered throughout the country. All you'd need to do is get your insurance then we would all be covered third party on our own insurance for the relay aldo135
aldo135
That could work! I’m in Edinburgh but even if it could get a few hours closer it would be great! SierraMikeHotel had said he might be able to do the first leg. Will PM him later. Where are you based Matty? SierraMikeHotel

coalnotdole
I'd really like to own this for £300. but would need to find off road storage for a MOT'd driving Rebel Van before I could consider it as theres no room here! aldo135
Ohdearme
Skyscanner in Jan can get you an easyjet flight for about £24 from Edinburgh to Gatwick and it’s about the same again for a train Gatwick to Folkestone (unless a shiter can airport pickup). You could then drive up, with copilot shiters that you collect en route or jettison with bus fare home if you wanted? yes oui si and aldo135
Daviemck2006
I picked up my xantia td with a lift to Inverness airport, easyjet to luton a lift to newport pagnel ish then drove home. All in one day. One tank of diesel did the 550 miles, the lifts were free, easyjet about £27 so collection was less than £100 all in Sent from my SM-T585 using Tapatalk aldo135
Jerzy Woking
I picked up a Yamaha Thundercat from Helensborough. Bus to Stansted then £39 flight to Glasgow. Met by Madmopedracer who drove me to his house. Half an hour later I was riding back south in lovely sunshine. Home seven hours later (I took the more interesting route home). A grand day out. aldo135, bangernomics and Ohdearme
