tobyd
Having wanted to try this for ages today was the day 1x gallon of water and 1x actual half cup of washing soda 1x rusty old spanner from 1x even rustier tool kit 1x oily piece of scrap, poorly photographed 1x 'The Moog Heavy Industries' brand battery charger 2x welding rods artfully bent to shape to hold things in suspension … 180 minutes later Turns out its a 22mm yamaha spanner. Rubbed some oil in some hopefully it won't rust back up. Tadhg Tiogar, privatewire, Skizzer and 4 others
Tadhg Tiogar
You now need a tank big enough to take an entire car..... dome, LightBulbFun and DeeJay
The Moog
The battery charger works? Result
tobyd
yep works nicely cheers! i think the courier had kicked it around a bit as the inerds were loose in the casing but putting it back in its retaining slots seemed to secure it well enough. Has a old-fluorescent tube hum going on. didn't register much output over the spanner-tank but the needle went to 2 on a nearly charged car battery so I think its ok. jon928se
The closer that the anode and cathode are together the faster it works. Also bigger sacrificial piece the better. I've seen 15amps going through mine. Also if you derust any bolts stronger than grade 8.8 and want to reuse them need to heat them in the oven for an hour or so at 200c to prevent hydrogen embrittlement.
