mercrocker
I have been across the mighty Atlantic (not the Austin one, sadly) to visit Mum and Dad Rocker for their Diamond Wedding with all the rest of the world-wide Rocker clan. It was a quick trip and not really a sight-seeing (aka chod spotting) tour but I did see some stuff worth sharing.... Rather a nice Spitfire of the apparently un-salted variety... This is how most stuff looks after a few years.... Tonka Toy DENIED. Wait until you are older.... Me Harry, This - funny french thing... This also French thing but more serieux... What is a Mini drive-train doing in a Canadian Motor Museum celebrating the GM Oshawa plant? I'll tell ye one day... Very short-lived Canadian version of Le Falcon....C'etait la Frontenac (not to be confused with "Fronty-Ford" specials also known by that name) Neither French nor Canadian strictly but may well have been produced at the Brampton, Ontario plant....Rambler American.... Parked up when the big hens went, apparently (sorry) Almost-Pageant-Blue Metro of Geo variety, shouldn't think there are many of these left on the road.... The weather was surprisingly nice for late October in Canada - peaked at 25C some days. Consequently there was a lot of stuff running round that should be in hibernation by now. Unfortunately most of it was going the other way at about 75 mph so I missed papping it. This, however, was outside a local coffee stop.... I'd vote for him just for driving it. The family's fleet of Nissan Versas.... (Ma, Sis and Niece each have one!) As it was meant to be a holiday, I broke with all tradition and drove this for a week. Can't say I didn't enjoy it but I was pleased to get back in the 190E this morning. Will miss the stereo, though.... Right, that's it for the noo. Totally fucked, been up 24 hours don't know if its arse-time or breakfast time and I am going to sleep now! mercrocker
Museum has been there a long while but has recently had some new blood and seems a lot more dynamic than on previous visits..... http://www.canadianautomotivemuseum.com/ Squire_Dawson
PhilA
Nice. Canada is mostly pleasant and has a few interesting surprises hidden about. Phil mercrocker
Squire_Dawson
Only problem is the cold. Doesn't it get seriously cold in winter so you're effectively housebound?
mercrocker
Aye...Precisely why, when the family upped (literally moving out of the house whilst I muttered into my tea about them not meaning it...) in 1981 I thought I might stay here for a bit. We started the week in 25-30 deg sunshine and ended up with me brushing a light dusting of snow off the Cherokee before running it back to the airport.... Once that starts to happen its a bloody long, cold, dark and frankly miserable seven or eight months before reliably decent weather returns. Scraping a car is one thing in the morning - digging the fucker out is way off my bucket list.....There are coping strategies but the fact remains - you eyelids will freeze shut if you don't take care in the depths of winter. Squire_Dawson
you eyelids will freeze shut if you don't take care in the depths of winter Gawd strewth! I also hear about unpleasant things happening if you need a number one outdoors. The cold is no good for me at all.
