My wife's friend has this little French thing to sell. MoT Expires 15/05/19, 66k miles but has no history prior to our friend's ownership, and as expected has a couple of small issues. Her son bought this car in May '17 as a learner car but dithered and faffed around so didn't use it, so our friend used it after her Ford Kack died. 7 former keepers. I think it has been involved in a minor collision as came up Cat D when she went to buy something for it - computer said (I can't see this and it's not stated on the V5)

Mileage is believed genuine given the MoT history.

History since our friend bought this car:

  • repaired horn & new airbag squib sept '17
  • Sunroof sealed up October '17
  • New rear bearings, lower ball joint and a full service to get it through MoT May '18.

I have been out in the car and it's a decent little runner, sadly I'm too tall to drive it without getting a crooked neck else I'd have had it to replace the Saab.

Issues with this little car are - it only has one key on which the central locking zapper is kaput, so you have to unlock the passenger door and press the button on the dash, and the alternator belt squeals under load - it puts out a good charge even with a heavy load so think just the belt needs changing. Could do with a couple of new tyres.

£300 or £5/ticket if anyone fancies a Roffle. Car is based in Maudlin, near Chichester, West Sussex and will be declared SORN from tomorrow as our friend now has new wheels.

For what its worth, my friend had one of these for a year or so after passing her test. I had a drive of it back from the seller, and around a few times.

They go well and handle well for what they are - pretty fun to drive, and are relatively simple to work on. Hers did have a recurring electrical issue which turned out to be the fuse box getting damp. I used to clean it up with contact cleaner every couple of months and it stayed fine after that.

Well it stayed fine right up until someone rear ended it because they were playing with their phone in traffic. The clio got botty smashed at about 15mph, and other than a sore neck and brown pants my friend was fine. The boot floor was deformed (actually looked like it had been shredded) but from the outside the car looked untouched and was more than capable of me driving it a few miles back (and the insurance co paid out about 25% more than she'd bought it for too). So these seem to be pretty hardy for what they are too - think they got a 5* NCAP at the time.

GLWTS

Got 4 stars - for years Renault put stickers in the back windscreen proudly announcing that to whoever may rear end you. But they also don't rust (unless badly repaired after an accident), so probably more likely to hold up better than the average rusty Fiesta.

Bump.

If the shed which is just been booked in has a drastic MOT fail I may offer you some cash for the Clio if still available. Was impressed with the last Clio vs (2 month old) BMW M3 incident where the Clio went home under it's power (plastic bits in the boot then reattached with long coach bolts) but the BMW went on the back of a truck.

Yes Castro, the Clio could still be sold outside of the Roffle; it's currently sitting in our friend's parking area but it is declared SORN. However as it's her car any bartering would have to be done with her. Not sure how far from Chichester you are.

She's had nothing but time wasters come round to view with the normal "180 cash 2nite luv"
