Squire_Dawson
Okay, when I mentioned Crewe at Chumley there was some interest for a day out. I went to this last year and although its not a big toy fair the rest of the site is great, which includes several signal boxes, relay room, sidings, the APT &c. So it's a full day out. https://crewehc.org/ I'll be coming on the train so will meet folk there, but for anybody coming by car I suggest arriving about 10.15 or earlier as parking space is limited. Saturday 6th October. 1. Squire Dawson
Ghosty
Date is ringing alarm bells for me for some reason, but I should be interested. Squire_Dawson

davidfowler2000
Count me in for this. Still undecided if I'll do it in a day by car or train or an overnight shot. 1. Squire_Dawson2. davidfowler2000

davidfowler2000
Friday October 5th is FATHA_df2k's birthday so I don't know if there will be some sort of event. I may just make it a day shot in the Golf seeing as it can go quite fast, rather comfortably and rather cheaply.
davidfowler2000
Looking like I will do this as a single day shot. Mainly so that I can have the car on site to make a swift getaway to be home for evening events. Squire_Dawson
davidfowler2000
Bump. This is a couple of days away. Anyone else fancy coming and playing trains?
Squire_Dawson
Myself and Mr. Fowler attended the event and had a very enjoyable day. The toy fair was an event whilst the Heritage Centre was open too. First of all, toy fair. Trays and trays of diecast. Now onto trains, Mr. Fowler in his natural habitat whilst I play Secondman. Squire_Dawson
A Baby Belling, rare in signal boxes in those days. Once we booted the kids out of the cab, we could have a play, and restore some normal train lighting. Your squire did not emerge empty-handed. Another car I have to put oil in. Inspector Morose
I fucking hate work. This is the second event I really would have liked to have gone to (the 50s at 50 was the other. Just the ability to miss eddyfest and my trilogy of misery is complete.I want another job. I shall continue to live well using the medium of other folks photographs instead. Squire_Dawson
Not to worry mate, there will be other opportunities to visit as they regularly host events.
catsinthewelder
I really wanted to go too but had things I needed to take the kids to, looked good will be happy to meet someone there on a day I'm not on dad duty. To make up for it I did get a day out at the W&LLR the other week which was nice. Squire_Dawson and Junkman
davidfowler2000
Can't remember what the 'XM' stood for. In this particular instance, the 'M' was for the Manchester line and the 'X' denoted a facing road movement. If I remember correctly we had to signal a train down the up Manchester to reverse into a siding. As far as I know, an X always denotes facing road movements. Our GS5954 GPL on the Shields head shunt gives you an E to enter the depot and X to get back out going up the Down Corkerhill.GPK113 and 115 starting signals at Gourock have associated position lights that can give you X1 and GPK117 can give you X1 or X2 to take you up the Down Gourock to two different limits of shunt to shunt between platforms.GS5995 is a bit different being a main aspect that can give you an X on a big theatre box but I've never seen that one seeing as we take a C to head towards the depot.
