Right then, roll up, roll up....

Due to being unable to resist Broadsword's XJR this lovely motor is now for sale. You should all know it's history from this thread & Richardthestag's before me but to sum it up in a short post.

Good -

2000 Jaaaaaaaaaaaaag Sovereign 4.0 V8 LWB.

MOT till late Oct 2019.

174k.

Thick history pile.

Four damn good tyres, they are a decent make (I forget what).

CD changer works now I've replaced it.

Engine runs great, pulls bloody well & makes a lovely noise. Doesn't appear to use any oil or water in the last 3k since I got it.

New battery when Richardthestag had it, so less than a year old so less than a year old (I think).

Contrasting piped leather, very swish.

Bad -

The gearbox can be funny when cold (mostly when it's colder than 5c & it's been parked all night), particularly as you pull away. Wafting away removes most of it & I think it's partly related to the bushes mentioned below. It drives fine at speed & I've done drives of several hours in it without any problems, it's just the first 10miles or so it clunks/slips a few times.

A-frame bushes have gone on the OSR, this is about a £250 job for the pair at my local specialist.

Aircon doesn't work. It needs a condenser, it's buckled & manky. I've tried a bit of gas in it & the pump kicks in till it leaks out again. I've seen condensors online for £82 new so it won't break the bank to fix.

Grotty rear arches by the doors & the OSF wing is manky too.

Drivers heated seat doesn't work, it's got power so it'll be the heating element.

Heated screen doesn't work, it's got power & the screens are known to fail on these.

Headlining is pinned up as per normal in Jags.

Autodimming interior mirror doesn't work, it stays dimmed which has never bothered me as you can still see fine in it.

Oh and most importantly, I've not changed the bulb to illuminate the gearshift yet.

I'll check the details like tyre make tomorrow in daylight & update this. I paid £1,100 and would like to make £1k back if I can, open to sensible offers but no swaps. Finally, have some pics.

well your car is blue and popular* with doctors...

if you step on the brake and the accelerator pedal at the same time does it make warping noises while fading in and out of reality by any chance?

if so it just might

In my experience that results in exhaust and tyre noises whilst things fade in and out of sight through the smoke.

No I'm not after the Jag, but if you are still going down to West Wales, first make sure Junkman isn't going so some of it might be open. There is the Museum of Speed at Pendine, again check that Junkman isn't going there so it might be open. Usually some interesting cars/bikes there and occasionally Babs.

Aye that was on the list, but depending on sales/purchases the road trip may be off. My rough list was Flying boat museum at Pembroke Dock, Pendine Sands & Pembroke Castle. But probably not in that order.

You sure you don't want a Jag?

Actually save me from it. It’s like a giant delightful bright red lightbulb pulling me towards it like the jag licking moth that I am.

Never owned an x300

Do it, I've never owned one either but do now and they are ace.

It's an X308!

The red xjr?

My blue one is a X308. The red XJR Broadsword has on offer is a X300.

Indeed so by buying it you’re saving me from it. That supercharger whine is addictive.

Yeah but I'm not buying it now, I've test driven it & it's not for me. You'd best grab it while it's still for sale...

Balls I’ve one in bits still, one incoming on the 3rd and maybe this supercharged fellow. Gone from none to potentially 3 in the space of a month .

Hmm better get the financial plan signed off.

Fully cockblocked by female sense, apparently it’s not good timing??
