The Moog
As seen on my thread it is time for the Rover to go. Its a 1990 820si Rover Saloon in Green. Only 44k from new and been sitting in a garage for the last few years. The challenges; The cam carrier for the exhaust cam is in two pieces. Engineering places say it cant be welded so will need to be replaced. This means probably an M Series head for the car. There is a recon one on Ebay for £500.Which in turn means the exhaust cam will need to be machined to the new cam carrier and head. The right rear caliper was sticking a bit and is rather crispy. I suspect it might need replacing. It has an exhaust blow Tyres on it were made in Yugoslavia - I think you can guess how old they are It was overfueling before I started work on it. Coolant was quite dilute so was rust in the cooling system. It has all been flushed through including the radiatorNo MOT obviously. The good bits; Low mileage giffer owned - PO had it from a year old. Funky numberplateInterior is absolutely mint and very velourious Coolant header isnt cracked! Comes with a new exhaust cam and oil seals to go in the new head Been kept in a garage so rust is pretty much limited to surface rust Everything works - including the electric sunroof Can come with newer tyres for the new owner to fit It has been looked after and has a detailed list of the work completed on it. it was serviced with air filter and plugs before starting work Radiator and cooling system flushednew water pump, CT sensor and thermostat fitttednew battery fittedComes with a heap of parts including timing belt tensioner, bleed nipples and some other bits and pieces. Quite honestly if you really loved Rovers I think that for another £600 you could have a beautiful car that would last for ages. Sadly I just dont have ability at the moment. It doesnt run at the moment with no head on it so will need trailering away. Priced at £150 to try and recoup some of the money and a bit less than scrap offering. I would prefer it was saved and so if you get trouser ruckage over it I am sure we can do something on the price. Located in Accrington. Lord Sterling
Woow! Any pics? Would love this but I'm stretched enough as it is and I really don't need another broken 800 in my life right now. If you can get some pics I'll get them stuck up on the Rover 800 forum unless there are any regulars there who are here as well who could do it? Partridge
Yeah, wouldn't mind but I've just commited to into investing into thin air so I'm out.I invested into thin air when I bought a W124. At least that was what the chassis was made of. chaseracer and Tickman
Lord Sterling
Sorry lads, I really can't take it on. If it can't be driven I can't recover it. Besides as well as thin air, I've also invested in water-damaged umbrellas.
sierraman
The engine seems to be a bit of a problem as they aren’t exactly thick on the ground. I think you’d see more than £150 for it sticking it on eBay. Even with a bollocksed engine the banger racers would give you £200 for it all day long. I didn't think the shells would be tough enough for them?
solid61
Do they like racing 800s? I didn't think the shells would be tough enough for them?Ive been to many banger meetings over the years but have never seen an 800 raced,I'm in no position to save it but this car needs sorting out by someone, low mileage mk1 800 saloons must be nearly extinct, these cars were a cut above in their day and still look real good today compared to the oversized, overweight, overtyred, overspecced blobs foisted on us these days.In my opinion the 1991 mk2 800 facelift looked awfull compared to the super clean lines of the mk1,it would be lovely to see this car saved,I think it deserves it. sierraman
No but it’s a 2.0 and it’s a big saloon car.
