I took delivery of this C5 on Saturday,(another recommendation for Bramz Delivery Services)

I bought it because I was doing a 40 mile round trip to work in the C6 and apart from it averaging 32mpg,the MOT's up soon so I thought the C5 would be a bit of a 'stop gap' and give me a bit of breathing space and allow me to shift some stuff as well, because the C6's boot is a tad restricted... also it'd knock a third off the fuel bills.

Anyway, after I agreed to the purchase I was offered a job a mile up the road from my new abode the very next day, so all of a sudden I didn't really need it!

However I thought at the time that It'd still come in handy... that was until I got some insurance quotes, It seems I must've moved into some kind of war zone as they wanted triple what i usually pay compared to my old address...
Which kind of put the kibosh on things.

This is Bramz advert (hopefully he won't mind me reproducing it)

Yo chaps and chapettes.

I recently bought this as i thought I needed it, and now it's services have been fulfilled. It's not bad to drive, for those used to XUDs the first gear has a lot more go to it. It doesn't feel too swamped with weight but I haven't been carrying around families in it either.

Some minor dents and scratches down the paintwork, as you'd expect.
Seats are decent, the drivers seat foam has gone a touch odd in one part but it still feels fine. Gearchange is solid, car stays mid way on the temperature constantly, fuel economy is very good, I used half a tank doing 300 miles the other day.
Stereo works.
Air con works.
Windows work.

It all pretty much works, even the suspension works.

The bad side:

Will need two front tyres soon as possible really. Not quite illegal but getting there.
Clutch a touch high, but I soon get used to it and it's not anywhere near undriveable.
Slight whirr noise when changing from first to second (sounds like something revolving coming to a slow or halt perhaps)
Steering wheel has aged a bit on the very top.

Otherwise it's all good. Bloody massive too. It's like driving an oil tanker. It drives very well on motorways too, eats the mileage like no tomorrow.

£375 of your sovs please, or nearest offer. Potentially open to swaps but ideally I have a few replacements (which are more me) lined up already, so if you are keen on swapping, please be aware it will have to be something fun.

I don't have much or any service history but the PO serviced it himself and it certainly feels well maintained, the engine has a lot of go to it, and the car doesn't feel baggy.

I am in Basingstoke.

There's some annoying BT repairmen outside digging up the pavement so for now, if you want photos, here are the originals from the eBay listing I won it from:

I've not much to add apart from the clutch bite is high but definitely no slippage or judder.

It needs the rear spheres replacing/recharging as they're hard which makes the ride a little bit jiggly, but not too bad at all ... though having owned many green blooded Cits I know it could be better.

The engine cover(sound insulation) needs re-attaching

And there's a small cubbyhole come adrift from the drivers door.

Btw I haven't/ can't hear the 'whirring' noise that Bramz mentions.

It's a really likeable old mowta...
It bowls along nicely, I enjoy driving it and an added bonus is the very slow anti clockwise movement of the fuel gauge.

Also I think It's even more beautiful since I removed the poundstore wheel trimz....
Its got a mean n moody stealth look to it now, as the exposed steelies are black ...phwoarrrr!

As per title £300 for a quick sale ... No roffle as I would like it gone asap so I can cancel the very expensive insurance!

I was told it was due to ‘intelligent’ systems working out risk, so when my mate a few doors up had his mini stolen they tried to double my premiums as minis were obviously at risk in my area. The reality was his was left outside and a bunch of dodgy scrap collectors eyeballed it and cam back later, mine was locked in an alarmed and monitored garage. The premium on my Capri didn’t change. Apparently they also look at this in relation to accidents, so if Citroen C5 has an accident in that area it could become a high risk area for that car. It’s so stupid it’s crazy but of course who does it favour? Not us for sure.

Hrng. I wanted this last time but put my sensible hat on and kept schtum. That is so much car for £300...

The only thing stopping me is that i want to hang on to the Saab for a little longer - I've only had it six months after all - but I think I've decided it's definitely not a long-term keeper.

Bugger. What to do.
